Hi Guys

As you can see I'm a fairly new member but have been a long time lurker!

I have been offered a K10D Grand Prix complete with grip for £450. Although used it's in very good condition and comes complete with all accessories manuals etc.

The question is, do I need it or is it just the offer that is tempting?

I currently have a *ist DL2 which I'm very happy with and would label myself as a keen amateur.

Thanks

Chris

Well, start making a list... what features does th K10D have that the DL2 does not? Do you "need" them?

Mainly,
- Higher Pixel count? eh, maybe enough to make a difference. But possibly not.

- Water/dust resistant? Very nice, if you are in situations where it matters. (although the anti-dust coating on the sensor is better than prior models. Very nice regardless of water resistance...)

- Faster capture and preview speeds and longer continuous shooting? Not a big seller for me. I'm holding out on further upgrades until actual frame rate is better (for full sized images).

- wireless flash control with pop-up flash? I use it a lot, anyone else?? Maybe not.

etc...

I'd say if they are high-want items but not on the need list, you may want to hold out for the next version. But price will of course be a factor...

Good luck on your decision.

You can get a new (if you hurry) K10D from SRS including a grip for about the same money which has the advantage that it comes with a 2 year guarantee. The only difference between the Grand prix and the ordinary K10D was that the GP had leather hand grips - mechanically they are identical. If I were in your shoes, and I wanted to upgrade, I think I'd go for the new camera with guarantee rather than the used one.
