Hi

Hopefully this was a bargain and useful. I hope I can hook up the AF160 to this, have I made a correct assumption, will the flash fire through this:

What you have bought is a Hot Shoe Grip and AF400T bracket . . . for a ridiculously low price. Well done.

With the cables pictured you can fit any 3 pin (or fewer) Pentax flash to it.

See this thread for an easy modification to facilitate the use of newer guns, up to, and including, the AF540FGZ.

I'm sure it will work but as the AF160 is not much more powerful than your onboard flash, which is P-TTL, I'm not sure why you would want to use it as a hammerhead, other than to help eliminate red-eye.

yep, to overcome red eye, and mount the grip on a tripod connected via the long cable (hoping this ends up being the 5m cable, the ebay listing does not say), to put the flash up at different angles. i've found so far the af160 range to be better than the onboard flash, not by much but enough to be useful. For what I want to do £15 inc postage seems a bargain, do you think?

I don't think it's a bargain . . . I know it is.

People will pay more just for the cables, you certainly got a bargain.

good news is its here and works fine, chuffed with it for the money.

bad news is what i had not realised was the 5m cable would be PC to 4P, so if i want to set this up further away I need the 4P Sync Cord B 5m cable or the Multi Cord combined with the distributor.

I've posted a wanted for this on the site, no idea if these are like hens teeth but worth asking.

As it stands I'm happy with what I got for the money but would like to achieve more. But that's the nature of this photography stuff, always one thing more you want to do!

I've never seen the distibutor - ever! But the cable does come up, mostly bundled with other bits of kit and not specified because the seller doesn't know precisely what it is. I just had a look at the ebay picture again, the PC cable looks like the one for the LX but without seeing the contacts I cant be sure. Very desirable cable for LX owners, I got one in a similar way and sold it for about £25 IIRC.
