Lenses are more important than filters - don't sell it.
I'd say get the cheap £17 set and use it. *If* you find you actually use the filters a lot then afterwards get just one Hitech filter of the grade you find the most useful, maybe a used one as well.

Excellent advice which i have just taken to the letter. I found the same set on Ebay for £1 cheaper and free delivery. Gone with that for now. Will add Hitech filters at a later date once i'm up to speed and no for sure which filters i need.

Let us know how you get on - wouldn't mind a cheap set myself to play about with.

Ended up with the cheapo ND set and the Cokin P ND Grad set (they were on special for £26 delivered).
So far i have found the Cokin give no colour cast when used in singles but when stacked do give a magenta cast. Not that strong though, easily removed post processing.
The cheapo set give a really strong colour cast....eek But not worried. For what i paid i got a nice wallet to put all 6 filters in, a second holder that looks an exact copy of the Cokin original and a whole set of adapter rings so i can use the filters on any of my lenses. Still a bargain for £14.99.
What i will do is add two single Hitech filters, an ND 3.0 and a hard grad 1.2. That way give me a full set of ND grads and a decent ND for smooth water effect.

Sounds a good budget set-up - will have to order a set!

52mm ring and holder for £3.99 from Ebay - perhaps go cheap here and then step it up for the filters
and
Set of Hitech filters (ND2, 4 ,8 ) £50
or
the set from Amazon for £17 - this appeals as it gives me a 52mm ring for the 18-55 and a 62mm ring for the 28-105, the holder and a set of filters. Worst case i throw away the filters and lose £12.
or
go with the SRB-Griturn complete ND kit for £49 - gets a favourable review from Camera World, but if i'm honest it looks the same set offered on Amazon for £17
The Hitechs with the cheapy holder sound the best option. But the Amazon option would take the pressure off selling lenses and maybe okay to try out using filters......head hurts!
