Say a lamp post is obscuring the sky so you press shift and copy the sky, then erase the lamp post to match the sky.
Can you do this is lightroom?

Thanks for your reply but it's about Photoshop CS6, not about Lightroom. Tried Photoshop CS6 but it's too confusing

I'm a great fan of Serif PhotoPlus (as I may have mentioned before) and use it in preference to the Adobe products, which I have used and also find excellent. In your case, Aura, you could do a lot worse than download the free version of PhotoPlus from here link and give it a try. In reality, most photographers need nothing more than this will give you. The paid-for versions of PhotoPlus are ridiculously inexpensive for what they offer and I find them more than competent to handle the occasional professional stuff I do. Others may be able to justify more sophisticated (and expensive) software, but this could be a good starting point for you.

PS Elements is good for learning as it has a 'Guide' mode - this opens windows that combine key adjustment controls with explanations of what to do as you go. Once you've got more confident then you simply switch to 'Full Edit' mode and use the controls without the handholding.
Like full photoshop, without this guide mode, then the various adjustment panels are a bit hidden under menu items, so it can be confusing to begin with. Elements has been devised specifically for photographers without all the art & design features of full Photoshop.
If you open RAW files then initially the Adobe Camera Raw window will open firstly to allow you to make basic adjustments and then the image is opened into the main Elements window for more detailed work.
A key reason for using Elements would be to learn about Layers, which provide a very flexible way of adjusting smaller parts of photos in detail, or of combining shots in various ways. All good stuff, and very useful as your skills develop!

Just got my copy of Lightroom. Now there is one steep learning curve.
Laura, I do not think that you would like it.
PSE10 will enable you to remove stray items (branches, telegraph poles, etc) fairly easily.
Unlike Aero, I am not a fan of Serif (the company or the software, just why is not really relevant here) and I think that Photoplus X2 (which I have had installed for some time) is not in the same league as PSE 10. Corel Paintshop Pro X4 (got that one as well) is much better than Photoplus.
With PSE10, you can start small (cropping, resizing, anjusting contrast, etc) and develop your skills at your own pace.
Since you do an amount of monochrome, Laura, you would find that the mono converter in PSE10 (with five options) would give you enough creative control for a long time).

Also can you make lamp posts and marks vanish if they are obscuring the photo? I think they call that a clone tool.
