Adaptall Mount Issues

Hope someone can shed some light on this...

A few weeks ago I picked up my Tamron Adaptall 90mm 2.5 lens and noticed that it was shooting very slow shutter speeds on my film camera. Wide open at 2.5 the camera would read 1/20th or something like that. On closer examination I discovered that the mount was coming away slightly - a gap appeared between the mount and the lens. I ALMOST threw it away but someone was saying that you can remove the mount and try another?

This is a very fine lens that shines for portrait photography and would be a shame to dump

Can someone tell me what might be wrong or how I go about removing it?

Are you talking about the adaptall mount coming away from the lens, or the ring on the lens that takes the adaptall mount?

Can't give you the exact instructions, but it is not uncommon for the mount to be slightly out of position so removing the mount and re-attaching might just sort it.

Dont have it to hand right now Barrie but will come back with a more detailed description when i see it again.

Think its coming away from the lens and if memory serves theres a rattling noise like something is stuck inside =- bit of plastic or something

I've had a look at the video just make sure when you mount or dismount the Adaptall you have the apature ring set to wide open and you line up the dots ( my 90 2.5 they are green). I find quit often when it's mounted you still have to align the two tags with there slots by hand.

The ring on the lens that takes the adaptall mount is held in by three screws, come slack maybe?

If it's as you say with bits rattling around I would contact Alan Marlow @ A.M. Technical Services. I've just sent two adaptall lenses to him following very reasonable quotes for repair.

I suspect just refitting the adapter part properly will solve it. I find they can be a bit fiddly so are easy to install wrong.
If the mount adapter is faulty fairly unlikely PK versions are quite cheap, I think I've seen loads at ~£5.
