Seriously, everywhere you go in mainland Europe you're more or less guaranteed to pass a car with Dutch numberplates. They even make it up here to Wales on a fairly regular basis!

My suspicion is that when NASA finally return to the moon they'll find a family from Rotterdam with a tent...

I heard the Dutch owners of a Caravan Site in France complaining that, despite the fact that their little restaurant on Site catered for their countrymen , they still brought most of the food with them.

Is that any worse than the English wanting fish and chips everywhere they go?

That's indeed true Technoidiot, lucky not every one is like the stereotype. I love to try out new foods in dip myself under in the culture, it's a good way to be someone else and relax for a moment. That's one reason I don't like the tourist spots

It's not about the Dutch - but I have memories of arriving on a small Portugese Site - beside the river and we had hardly set up , being the only Brits on Site as far as we could see [ and we had used this site for about 4 years ] when a couple of very redfaced [ sunburnt ] people rushed up shouting "We'll tell you where to get proper tea and Bread "

There was a bakery right at the gates of the Site - with wonderful fresh bread and rolls every couple of hours during the day !!

I think we're agreed that £200 (or even the £100 starting bid) is a ridiculous price for a Pentax-M 80-200mm f4.5 though - even if it was brand new and had been lurking at the back of a warm dry storeroom for the past twenty years it'd be stupid money.

On the other hand, maybe I should sell mine for a £180 profit? It has both original end caps (well, one of them has been replaced but it's a genuine replacement of the correct vintage) and I can guarantee no fungus, got to be worth at least £220 as a result...

On a serious note this is why I think a price guide for older lenses might be a good idea. I've seen more than a few beginners picking up on an ebay auction for an item that could be had much more cheaply from a different seller. I know that the "other forum" does this but their prices are all in dollars and I'm not convinced the market is the same on both sides of the Atlantic - I get the impression that used gear prices are higher here.

I'm not entirely convinced that my purchases fit the general pattern though, speaking as someone who managed to find a K 55mm f1.8 for £8.50 and a 120mm f2.8 for £65 (both perfect optically and with only minor paint wear). Most recent find? Pentax SFX with 35-70mm zoom for £33!

Since the majority drive not on the left that means everyone the do drive on the left side are freaks
