Hi Phill,
Take a look at the link above. I've used the AA rechargeable 2900mah batteries for years now. Bought a set for my son's radio controlled car. Has since outgrown and now I use them for my scanner when in the loop. Been recharged quite a few times now and still going strong.
At the time I also bought a Ansamm intelligent charger which was around £15 which was advised which will adjust to charge the batteries to individual load capacity so no over cooking!!
Hope this info helps.
Ps Almost forgot they were also used in my old KX and far out did the Duracell rechargeables.

Panasonic eneloop Pro are the best for flashes. Dont buy the ones linked above.
Check out this thread for a battery test with another flash.

I have a selection of Panasonic and Sanyo Eneloops as well as Energizer Recharge® Power Plus AA and see little to no difference between the lot (all 1900 to 2400mAh). My Metz 52 does seem to recharge faster for longer on the Energizer ones but all the big brands are very dependable and suitable for the purpose. I use my flash several times per week, for hundreds of shots.

Maplins do Eneloops which I use in my *istD and DS -- they might also try to flog you their 'hybrid' recharables, which are quite useless.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

When I bought my *istD (from another member), he advised Eneloops.
Other rechargables and non-chargable just would not get it to come to life.
The Panasonic Eneloops came through the post, and it powered up instantly on the residual charge.
I run both my *istD and my X5 on Eneloops, and find that they hold their charge for ages. If I have not used a camera for a couple of months, it does get turned on to check battery state, and charged if needed.

You might consider these as they appear to be re-branded eneloops.

FWIW... a word of warning. From Amazon, 8 Eneloops would cost £13.99 inc postage, the Amazon-Basics branded ones £17.98. So be warned if ordering! I know which I'd prefer and they're cheaper too!

Amazon Batteries are good, but I doubt if they are Eneloops.
Amazon also warn that the packaging may change, which could also mean the manufacturer may change
I got caught out with Lidyl selling AA's that were only half as good as the previous ones.
