That is good news. Nice of you to enquire first too.
I hope to visit Chester Cathedral sometime - the choir screen was carved by an ancestor of mine. So if you take any photos of that I'd be interested in seeing them.

They were probably delighted and surprised someone had the courtesy to ask! I went into St Martins Church (Brum) for some photography last week, but I didn't have the heart to take any pictures, since people were in there sitting in contemplation. Taking photos would have been crass.
(Usually my attitude is 'my ancestors paid for this place through tithes and the sweat of their brow, so I'll jolly well do what I like in here!' but I'm always careful not to spoil the enjoyment on other visitors).

That's good to know. I plan on getting there this spring / summer. Drop the Mrs and kids off in Grosvenor Park, so they don't get bored waiting for me

Chester is full of nice places to photograph, there's a good Pentax Pro Dealer there too (Camera Solutions if my memory serves).
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Photography for personal use is indeed permitted inside the Cathedral, apart from service times. If you are intending to use a tripod, please ensure that it has rubber feet, rather than metal, to avoid scratching the floor.
