A portrait

I think I've mentioned before, I really don't like photographing people, so portraits scare the life out of me..don't ask why as I couldn't answer.

Anyway, my son was playing with one of his friends and I snatched a couple of un-posed shots and I think this one worked really well.

I've put up both colour and mono. C&C please.

The colour one for me Father. To bad you have lost the detail in their hair. Pulling detail out of that would mean a lot of noise I'll guess.
Nonetheless a very spontaneous picture that should make both mom's happy.

Martin.
Best regards,

Martin.

Curious about my photography?? Just Follow the Light.

Thanks Martin. I'll have a look at the original and see if I've got the detail in their hair. I darkened the background a bit ( if I remember correctly ) to avoid the distraction of the stairs.

Being totally honest here, the shot is far to dark all over the shot. Being a tad lighter would have brought out the colours and the detail, maybe bouncing a flash from the ceiling.

If flash was used then I would have preferred the black and white version.

Unfortunately neither works well, sorry

No need to apologise

It was just grabbed as a quick shot while they were messing around. I liked it, but I'm biased, which is why I wanted some unbiased opinion.

I do have a bad habit of being brutally honest and that was the reason for the apology

Keep trying though as you will get there in the end

That's the best way. The only way I'll learn is for more experienced people to tell me what I'm doing wrong.

If I want my ego polishing, then asking for C&C in here isn't the way to go about it. I'd ask my mum for her opinion ( not my wife though )

Well if there are any marks for expression, this scores 100% have to agree with paullucas on exposure though, but the black & white post almost works, then I am biased when it comes to B&W
Not everything in life is Black & White, If only it were!

Had a look at the original. As I say, it was a quickly grabbed snap and I didn't use flash, so the original is very dark.

C'est la vie
