That is one really weird proboscis on that moth! Any idea what it is adapted to eating/what species it is?

Wow! That's an impressive macro setup. I used to have access to a ring flash (belonged to the ex-wife), made a big difference to macro shooting. I'd like to get one but they are pricey.

It's a viltrox jy 780 or something
Not the best in the world but it works 👍🏻
I couldn't get the detail I get without it.
I have yet to get eye detail without a flash. I'm not sure it's possible. Specular highlights ruin it.
Lots of macro you won't need a flash for but there is some you do.

I think the sight of it creeping out of the bushes straight for them induces a form of bug hypnosis, and that's why they don't buzz off. Or Derek must be humming a magic chant as he approaches..
