A highbrow book review.

Apart from the usual brightly coloured, noisy, motorised and plasticky junk, my nephew received a book for Christmas.

This one:



It is the story of a little mole, who awakes one morning to find that there is a... Erm.... Well, not to put too fine a point on it, a turd on his head!
Obviously, the little mole is not too pleased about this, as can be seen in the cover illustration, above. He resolves to find out who deposited this outrage on his head.
The book is about the mole's journey to find the culprit. He visits all his animal friends and compares their poo, to the one on his head.
Eventually, after learning to identify various animals droppings, he finds the guilty party. I won't spoil the plot for those of you yet to read this literary masterpiece, but let us say that he extracts his revenge in a fitting manner.

This is a wonderful book and hilariously funny. both of us laughed like drains as I read it to my nephew.
If any of you have little ones, of learning to read age in your family, I highly recommend this little gem of a book.

There's a lot of oversweetened stuff around but some of the children's books are quite funny. This is a cult classic. I gave it to my nephew years ago. The Danish title leaves less to the imagination about the content!

I bet it was on Chris Packham's (Springwatch) Christmas list

Yes. Small children are delighted by our more vulgar bodily functions. The fact that I loved the book as well, probably says quite a lot about my level of maturity, too!

My grandson has it in Dutch and loves it! It is a German book originally.

Picked it up yesterday and my 4 year old loves it.
