Cheers

A pal just got it today and one of mine is at the front by the contents page apparently. I missed the delivery man today so they took it back to Carlisle.

Wow Mark!

Stunning work. Just when I was starting to get a little bit complacent with my landscape shots, these all serve to show me there is much for me to still learn and aspire to.

Thanks for sharing - they immediately make me want to get out this weekend and really work at it.

This is just a gorgeous gorgeous set. Wouldn't know where to start to critique these (there are just so damn many of them)

Agree with John ... that last one is a little bit more than special. #1 & #2 plus the one take with the 15 Ltd would fill out my Top 4.

Brilliant photographs and the extra information regarding filters etc is invaluable to a beginner such as my self. Thank you for sharing.

Mark- lovely work, I like the fact that you haven't gone too heavy on the contrast and colour in PP. An excellent demonstration of restraint that makes them stand out from the crowd IMO. So many of the images we get fed in magazines these days are a little overdone in my view but not here. Excellent.

Thankyou very much for showing them.

Thanks very much folks - appreciate the nice comments.

Just counting down the minutes till I can get up to Sutherland again. Majestic scenery but unfortunately the conditions meant I have no good shots of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh or any of the amazing hills up there. On the last morning we picked a high viewpoint looking over Suilven and Canisp for dawn. It didn't really work out but was amazing to watch them develop their own cloud formations as dawn progressed. I'd actually seen a wee croft up in the hills behind us that was way off the (very minor) road with only a tiny rocky track leading up to it. It was only at dawn that I realised it was there due to a small gap in the hills allowing it a view of Suilven - thats the second picture. You don't get any idea of the scale but I've put both these in to give an idea. A bit more thinking required next time to do them justice. A mate and I will be going up in February and a bit of winter walking will be done to get the right viewpoints.

Fantastic set. The last one of the river valley in the original set is like an old oil painting. Just stunning.
I had just been wondering what had happened to you as I hadn't seen anything from you for a while and wham. Back with a flourish.

How do you avoid flare when you stack square filters? Do you tape over the top or use a hood/shade of some sort? Inspired by your pictures I've just starting using some ND grads and have had a few flare issues. A 10 stop is next on the list but I've a very long way to go before I get anything remotely like one of your shots.

Cheers again folks

I'd kept a low profile for a bit Mark as there seemed to be too much squabbling going on. I tok up photography as a way of relaxing (although its got to be a bit more than that). There are a number of excellent photographers on here that I can learn from and certainly pick up Pentax related tips so I decided to keep posting.

I've never really had an issue with flare - if I'm shooting into harsh light (a very rare occurrence) I don't tend to use them which is probably why I don't get flare. Light is key at all times and I tend to shoot at certain times of day when the quality is at its best - dawn and just after is way and above my favourite time of day.

The B&W 10 stopper is my favourite piece of kit. Can make even dull days interesting.
