A bit of a 'decay' theme for two days shooting

I've had two days off. Our little one is being looked after by my parents. The wife is sleeping mostly - recovering from two night shifts back to back, and for the first time in a fair while, I've had oodles of time to get snapping. Plus my K20D and 50-135 will be sent off for repair soon, so thought i'd do a big shooting spree.

I've been working with the theme of decay to give me a creative push, let me know what you think:

all shots were taken with the 18-55MKII at 18mm and F8:

Excellent apart from No 3, where the blown out sky spoils the shot for me. Maybe a case for HDR there?

Otherwise, splendid location that you've made very good use of.

I like the 2nd one. The sky is great and the angle is good.

Also like number 5, Not sure why but theres something about it....

And 7 well I just love the sky and the reflection in the water.

I'm sorry John, there is no sky to put in was a very overcast day yesterday!

Ok...i've added in some sky from a different shot I took today (cheating a bit, but hey, I can blame John)

Don't worry, I have broad shoulders!

Getting better, but now losing detail in the stonework. It's been an interesting progression, but none of the other very fine shots needed this.

Think I prefer it without the sky actually, think it adds to the bleakness of it.
