Could be I missed something, but suddenly I noticed the option to delete or edit posts has disappeared as a option. And I mean the structural option to do so, even after hours, day's or weeks. Now as it seems you only have a window of about 20 minutes.

Please don't tell me it has been turned back again.....

Martin.
Best regards,

Martin.

I noticed that a couple of days ago and was wondering if it had anything to do with Nathans "Stop closing my posts" post.

We have 30 minutes to edit posts, giving the opportunity to correct errors.

The limit has had to be introduced to stop some abuses of the system that you may or may not be aware of, but which nonetheless were causing a problem.

Most forums have a limit - over at Photodo it's only 10 minutes.
Best regards, John

OK,John.
Personally I am not happy with the decision. But.....As we have had this discussion earlier and as a result of that a try-out was introduced I'll reckon the staff had valid reasons to intervene and turn it back.
So lets move on, and try to be even more careful when typing.

Martin.
Best regards,

Martin.

I don't like this 'Big Brother' approach. I want the ability to edit my posts, no matter how old they are.

In the past I've re-read some of my very old posts and felt the need to correct either the spelling or the content to retain factual accuracy.

Isn't PhotoDo run by the same people as this site?

PhotoDo might be, but the other forums I'm on definitely aren't and they also have or have have had restrictions on editing.

As John says, users editing their posts weeks later can cause the moderators a real headache ( I'm a mod on two other sites and speak from experience ).
Although, it must be said that this forum is a lot more pleasant than they are at times and doesn't seem to descend into WWIII on a regular basis
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

TBH, I have no problem with this change. Yes, I'd like to go back and edit typing errors from time to time on other forums, but if you feel the need to change the actual content, then you shouldn't have posted it in the first place

A forum is a repository as much as a 'live' discussion, and I stand by any post I've made here, or elsewhere. If I didn't, I wouldn't have clicked 'post'
