Whats the best way to connect my K20 to a Celestron C8 telescope :

I have just borrowed this scope from a friend with the opportunity to buy it.
Should I connect it through a lens or through a T-mount adapter directly to the 1.25inch 26mm or 32mm eyepieces.

I have done a little research on this but im still none the wiser on this subject, anyone had any experience in this area and would like to pass on some tips, It would be greatly appreciated. cheers

Hi Clarky,

I have a (very old) Celestron C90 (about half the mirror diameter of the C*8*) without equatorial drive.

I've connected it to the camera with the Celestron threaded adaptor that came with the telescope, and in turn to a Kood k-mount adaptor. The thread is 42 mm, but is NOT the same thread as M42.

I found the K mount adaptor at the Rayners Lane SRS shop - maybe they can ship you one to Sydney?

I have added rubber 'O' rings so that I can angle the camera correctly without the whole rig being loose.

Next I'll try to post some pictures...

Thanks Mate, that looks like just what I need.

I was thinking I needed to attach the camera to the detachable eyepiece obviously I was wrong.

Here is a pic of my eyepiece mount with the eyepiece removed, I have just realised I can also remove this piece as the second pic indicates, its a 50mm connection. So I need one of these Kood connectors.
Much appreciate your help.

I will look around Sydney and see if I can locate one here, if not I can contact Chris and see if he can help me.

Hi Clarky, I have a meade etx90. Bought it new, years ago. It came with an extension to enable prime focussing with a K mount. I presume if you check Celestron catalogs you will find something similar. You can also use the camera thru the eyepiece for much greater magnification. Done that with a small light weight camera. Adapters also available at another site:

No chance of that! It took me *years* to get the hang of right ascension when I first got interested in Astronomy (aged 13).
