Ask your wife/girlfriend for some nail polish remover. (Acetone)
That should do the trick.
There are also special label residue removers available at the DIY store.

Wouldn't Acetone stand a chance of removing some of the colour from the leather?

Not if you dilute it a bit. Just stroke it clean afterwards with a water wetted towel.

Finish line Citrus degreaser is what you want
Stronger and much cheaper version of the label remover they sell in the likes of Lakeland.
Can be used diluted and lasts for ages, eco friendly too
