I've been using an m 1.4 for a few weeks and love it, just feel happier with the A setting as on my 1.7. maybe I'll give myself a bit longer to get used to using the green button

HI,

I was going to post a new topic, but think its worth jumping in here for a start....

I have an SMC-A 1.7/50 which is great...but...Ive been to a few gigs and even though SOME shots are in focus....the ratio of good to bad is about 3:7.

I'd like to improve on this. I like low light work and have had some good results. However MF in low light is sporadic. Do the AF lenses fare any better? SRS had a AF 1.4/50 recently but I missed it.

Is this my best option or is there a zoom that would do the job in low light. Budget is about £250.

Thanks

~Andy

As you may have seen in another thread, I've tried a split focus screen for a bit, but now I've turned the on focus beep and use my eyes and that. In a way its a bit like an autofocus lens where my hand is the motor - I'm using the same focus detection system. It's slower but after I get the in-focus indication I can then adjust to get exactly the focus I want.
