Hi Ken,

Yes, we can see the pictures now! Lovely shot of the sailing boat, and the dinghy is beautifuly sharp by the looks of it, cracking colours too.

Anyway, I was going to mention something about your website. I realise it's going through a rebuild (although that's not immediately obvious, it looks like a banner ad across the top of the homepage, so I disregarded it to start with), but can I make a suggestion about your navigation buttons?

I found that they needed two clicks before they would take you anywhere - one to 'activate the control', and the other to actually take you to the page. Just a bit odd, it doesn't do what I would expect it to, ie. one click and off you go. I'd be tempted just to use rollover images there, rather than flash. They won't look quite as nice, but it's much less to download, and some people do still use dial-up!

It all looks promising though

Cheers,
Dan

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the comments, this is driving me mad. The buttons were all working as they should on my site's last incarnation and now they are as you describe. I thought it was something wrong with my flash player but obviously not. They should change colour on rollover and then work on the mouse click. Back to the Dreamweaver drawing board!

one hour later...

Did a search on the net and discovered that this pain in the neck comes courtesy of Microsoft due to a patent infringement and will be here for some time the full story is here:

Well that's a pain! Have to say it's the first time I've noticed it as a problem, although I have seen the 'click to activate' message a few times. I guess it's been downloaded as an automatic update, and it's therefore fairly safe to assume it's going to be relevant to a lot of users.

The simplest way round it is with rollovers, but they won't look so classy...

Good luck,
Dan

Hi,

http://www.mobw.net/

a free bit of kit.. design, your buttons, stick the images in and hey presto. It generates the code for you to put up on the site.

I've used it, and it's pretty intuitive, after a little while.

Off topic, I know.. sorry.

Cheers

I ordered from Jacobs on Friday at £49.99 plus shipping =£57.99 hardly daring to imagine that it might arrive, but this morning it did.

Their web ordering service would not accept either of my cards, but a telephone order was accepted OK

Good luck!

This lens is a cracker AFAIK the Samsung is identical to the Pentax (except for the name).

Here are some samples with the Pentax version:

Flowers:

It's incredibly small and light (not much different to the 18-55). So it's the kind of lens you can carry around everywhere.

For the price you absolutely cannot go wrong

For the price its super not sure it has SMC but from research it probably does as its an identical rebrand.

Maybe cheap as not many folk would be going head on for a samsung lens

Who knows

Skodas are great cars (VW)

Just to let you know that I picked up the 50-200mm from my local Jessops which is closing down for £125.99.
Sometimes, you've just got to be lucky and in the right place at the right time.

I was amused to note, following earlier discussion of protective filters, that Jacobs suggest you spend another £29 on a "lens protector". That's 60% of the cost of the lens!

No doubt somebody will buy one.

LOL thats a good one, becomes rather a lot harder to argue that it's worth it when the filter is nearly the price of the lens.

I don't know if anyone is interested since I know I'm rather late to this party, but I've tested the F 70-210 and DA 50-200 side by side. My subjective opinion is that the 70-210 is oh so fractionally sharper while the 50-200 is more contrasty.

My Dad and I both tested them and came to the same conclusions and oposite decisions. I kept my 50-200 because I value it's size and weight. I have an 80-320 for when I want long tele, the 50-200 is a small lens to carry "just in case" when traveling light.

My Dad prefers the handling of the 70-210 and rarely uses more than 200 anyway. He also says the focusing is better with the F series lens, and on his *istDL2 every ounce of extra focusing speed is worth having. My K10D doesn't struggle with either lens.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help
