Cheers Peter. It's a liquid
Its ferrofluid and that's how it reacts when you bring a magnet in from underneath

Yes, me too... 3 has a great light vs unexpected form thing going on... and love the vanishing point/selective focus of 1... top experimenting as per...

1 and 3 faves for me also - very well done, and 3 is a very unusual subject. Nice one.

So you did rise to the ultimate focus challenge! It's a great picture. Did it take 2 spare batteries and several memory cards to finally get a shot with focus on the tip of wind-blown grass? Or was it a carefully crafted indoor shot with the blade glued rigid???

The ferrofluid is genius. What's the height of those spikes?

I'll put in a good word for number 2 - my favourite - great shot.

Hi Steve you are a bad man. Bad man

Everytime I've been out shooting I'd take a few, 2 weeks it's taken me to get this one. this is it for me. No more please.

The ferrofluid wasnt my idea, I saw it on YouTube, ordered it from Amazon and instant weirdness. The spikes range from about 3mm to maybe 6mm in length. The closer the magnet, the smaller, tighter the spikes. Pretty cool stuff, but with plenty of warnings, skin / eyes.
Cheers again
Derek

1 & 3 definitely (2 is a great shot too, but, you know, almost normal-looking compared to the others )
#1 in particular has qualities that appeal to me, of quietness, contemplation, concentration and minimalism, as did the first you posted a few days ago. If you have more, I'd love to see them as a collection.
