If you can afford it and are willing to pay the price then go for it - I doubt it'll lose any value and it'll be a great lens. Personally I'd be more interested in putting that sort of money towards a DA Ltd, my top price for a manual prime is about the £100 mark (and for that it has to be a bit rare!)

I would get a manual Vivitar 28mm for $30-150 instead.

I have a 28mm F2 identical to that, perfect condition, all accessories and box. SRS offered me £40 for it last week and I was thinking of letting it go - on the other hand it's too nice just to look at.

That's the thing about selling to a dealer - they need to make their mark-up so won't be able to offer you the full value of the item.

If you listed it on ebay for £100 you'd probably get your hand bitten off within hours, I saw a K 35/3.5 go for about that much in an auction recently in similar condition to yours. As you say though, the K lenses are just too nice to sell! I now keep my eyes open for more of them even though I have everything from 18-300mm covered with various lenses, they're just superb.

I'm thinking that focus ring will work well with video..... tooo bad it isn't an "A" lens....
I will give it a shot if he renews the ad... and takes a lower offer... too close to Christmas for a guy with kids to be spending on himself right now...

Weirdly I've been thinking the same thing about the 28/3.5 I have. It goes to infinity very rapidly and is more or less focus free for larger subjects.

I am seriously considering saving for a K-x as they seem to be coming down in price, the video mode and higher resolution sensor appeal.

There's a New CZ 28mm f/2.0 Distagon on ebay for about 957 Dollars US in California. It has the A setting.
