I've heard the FA24-70 is a good contender as a walk around lens.
Whenever I use my 18-55, not taking landscapes, I usually find myself wanting a bit extra length
I've seen the lens on ebay for around £40, and its on ffordes at the moment at £49. Is this lens worth it?

I really don't know why I'm looking at lenses when I'm saving up for the k20d with the 18-55 MKII

I've got about £670 saved now, hopefully its not long till the price drops to around 725 w/ kit (its currently 750 on bristolcameras), and ill have enough money.

that lens has been discussed in detial..do a search...
I own one...love it.
It can hold it's own with much more expensive glass.
constant ap f4, close focus, minimal distortion.

some users complained of problems with the rear element (perhaps a faulty batch out there, but something to look for).
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I had one on my MZ5 film camera for years and was happy with it. It eventually broke however and I replaced it with the 24-90 lens.

The 28-70 F4 is a bit fragile so if you want one make sure it's fully functional and preferably with little use. One common problem is that the front lens elements separate which I expect will be pretty obvious to look at.

I did replace mine and used tried it on the DS ( digital ) but it didn't seem as great as it had on film so I sold it.

If it was me I'd probably buy a 50mm F1.4 or F1.7 standard lens instead if you want a big leap in quality.
