Here are 2 photos of the Scott Monument in Edinburgh and I can't make my mind up which I prefer. Your opinions would be gratefully appreciated.

On a slightly differing point, on my last afternoon in Edinburgh, I was waiting for a bus on St David's Street and a chap was going towards the Monument taking photos of it with his Nikon DSLR. You could see the built in flash firing with everyone he took?

Portrait mode for me!! And, next time you see somebody firing off a flash unit in broad daylight, attempting to light up every nook and cranny of any building in order to get better composition, you have my permission to shoot-to-kill!!

Information re other camera user wasn't really necessary.

Portrait mode. You have chopped the top off the spire in the landscape version.

The first is the preferable composition. However, it needs a slight clockwise rotation, and the correctly exposed sky has led to the building and foliage being rather too dark for a bright sunny day.

I'll remember that next time.

Scott Monument, what nonsense.

It's clearly Thunderbird 3.
