16-45 version

Posted 15/10/2009 - 21:36 Link
I notice on the Microglobe website the 16-45 is described as 'new version with latest technology' and '16-45mm SMC P-DA F4.0 ED-AL AF Zoom Lens' whereas the official Pentax sit descibes it as 'PENTAX-DA J 16-45mm F4.0 ED/AL' but nothing about a new version.
Is there a name which would identify this newer version from the previous version, if indeed there is previous version. Thank you.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
There is only one version of the 16-45 and you could say that the DA17-70 is the replacement of that one but other then that there is nothing.

There is only one version of the DA16-45, Microglobe probably haven't updated their description since the launch, hence the "new" part. And Pentax's long-winded naming conventions often lead to small discrepancies in the ways they're listed from vendor to vendor. Welcome btw.
