"DL" lens?

Hi, I can't seem to find any info on a DL lens. only DA-L... is there a difference?

I have that. There is no reference to "DL", only DA-L

I think the DL suffix is a sigma one, I could be wrong, I normally am or so the wife tells me

yes it's on a sigma lens. is it the same as a pentax da-l then? or something completely different?

You need to check the Sigma website - their lens designations are quite different to Pentax.

DL Deluxe. Full featured lenses and come with a custom lens hood, feature half stop increments on manual aperture settings, depth of field scale, distance scale, infrared correction mark.

advert said "manual and autofocus", so whilst i'm now a bit worried, i think i'll be ok.

it's a 70-300mm f4-5.6. it was cheap, but not cheap enough for it to be a manual lens. so fingers crossed now i suppose.

Ahh Sigma DL - the 70-300 came in two versions - DL and APO, DL being the budget variant - most probably AF. APO has better 'glass' and the APO macro variant of the mid90s was a good lens, not brilliant but good.

Depending which body you intend to attach it to makes a difference - but I would say this - DA-L is much, much better - unless of course you intend to use it on a film camera.

for £50 i'll take a punt and see how we go. i have a nice sunagor 80-200 old manual lens that i really like. but just thought for sake of convenience, might be nice to have an autofocus from time to time.

I had the non-APO version of Sigma 70-300 before changing to the DA55-300. I was happy with mine and it sounds like a bargain at £50. Here are some shots with it on the *istDL2.

lens arrived yesterday. it's actually pretty decent i think. took some quick mucking around shots at home. smallprint on an aerosol from across the room came up crispy clear. got a shot right up the dog's nose. autofocus works smoothly, all the rings turn freely but sturdily. well happy with it
