Despite wondering whether I'll use this focal length much, I couldn't resist the all-in price of £216 on Amazon, so for the second time I ordered a lens via their Marketplace.

As before, it duly turned up, posted in the UK, the first time from Simply Electronics and this time from Best British Bargains. No problem with the charging, the delivery or the goods sent.

The lens itself is of course ultra-compact. It's also beautifully made and has a very unusual and intriguing lens hood/lens cap design. It snaps instantly into focus on my K20D.

No results yet, but I'll post something when I have something!
Best regards, John

I was sorely tempted by the same offer! However as I've recently benefitted from the PCworld 12-24 sale, I've decided to hold off.( or face the wrath of 'er indoors)
I'm very interested to know how it performs though. It is said to be very good indeed!

My LBA list is still DA35mm ltd macro, FDA100 and a toss up between the 50 -135 and the DA77 but the price increases have put those off for a year or more!

I got mine for about £150 from SRS. Very nice lens and excellent, compact package on the istDS. Also just about works on the MZ5n.

Bought from Amazon a couple of weeks back. Didn't want to risk a grey import so spent the extra few quid and bought direct from Amazon.

So far, a big fan. Haven't properly stretched it yet, but hopefully the Lakes will see some action.

I have had one of these lenses for a few months and really love it. On holiday in Dorset recently it hardly ever came off the camera. There's a couple of pictures in my portfolio taken with it (early morning views out over Swanage pier and Old Harry Rocks) if anyone wants to see some shots taken with it (I really must get to grips with how to upload pictures into the forum here...). I reckon it's also a great focal length (and physical size) for just wandering around and snapping away...

I have the 40mm da as well.

A great lens. So small, it looks as if there is no lens on the slr at times.

It's a useless lens on a digital camera. Everybody knows that, except Gartmore, and what does he know? Well, OK, he makes his living from photography, but what's that got to do with the price of eggs?

PS: This Bombay Sapphire is wonderfull stuff. Hic.

I bought my K5 about a year and a half ago together with the kit lens.

A couple of days after, I also bought the DA 40mm f2.8 lens.
Why, It was a spur of the moment thing. I was a bit fascinated by the small size of the lens.
However, I never used it, until today.

I went for a day trip and only used this lens.

Wow, when looking at the pictures, I was blown away.

This lens is just superb. I took landscapes and street pictures. This lens fits them all.
I haven’t taken any portraits or similar yet. I hope it is not to sharp.
I suppose if it is, I can use a softening filter.
I posted 2 pictures on my portfolio thaken with this lens today.

Regards, Horst
