"cloudly" lens... is that fungus ?

i found a man who is selling his precious lens... he says the lens is "cloudly", so i think it's full of fungus...
Is there a pemanent solution to defeat this problem ?
Can fungus damage the mechanical system of a lens ?

It depends what lens. For example, the Pentax SMC-FA 28-70 f/4 suffered from 'cloudy' elements - where the glue that holds the rear two elements together went really milky and horrible. I have had two of these, and others have had the same - and it's non-reversible. The best you can do is scrape the deposit off the element to make it less cloudy (but it's still pretty 'yuck')

A picture of the cloudiness would definitely help

The lens is a "new" kind of lenses.
it's a wide-angle tamron autofocus...
i still don't have photos of the elements, cause it's an object sold in a "on-line" auction ( not ebay ).
Is it better if i get some photos before ?
The price is still low anyway... 50€ ( the brand new lens is like 450€ )

Sounds odd to me!
Personally, I'd request some images before considering going further
Might be a case of "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is!"
