£50 reward

This image has just won me £50.
The local paper put up a reward of £50 for a photo of an Otter that had taken up residence in the local canal.
It took a while as the Otter only ventures out after the sun has gone down and stays under cover in the trees and Lilypads, patience paid off in the end.

Certainly paid off, and a well earned reward! A great shot, the lighting is just right, its looking over and the surrounds are beautiful - what more could you want ? ... I know.... what about a crop just to take the little subject a bit further off-centre?

Congratulations. I wouldn't crop it or anything, I'd print it out as as big as I could and hang it on a wall

You mean like this ??
I must admit I can never make my mind up on the final crop on a lot of images, I think I've 'nailed it' and then go back the next day a prefer a different crop.

Steve, yes, I think that small crop is stronger... There's many options of course, but I found the centre placement of the key point of interest just broke the rules really.

I prefer the second. It seems to bring out the detail you have captured in the otter

Great shot, one of my wishes to see and shoot ( with the camera!) an otter in the wild!

Well done Steve a superb image and well worth the wait.
I have seen signs of Otters on our local river but have yet to spot them.

Fifty Quid may have been the incentive, but surely the finished result is "Priceless"

I'd be proud
