Uhhhh :) I'm being thick, I think. So does the 49mm cap only fit when the hood is reversed? Can you use a 49mm filter on the lens (e.g. a CPL). I thought perhaps you'd discovered that any vignetting from a 49mm filter doesn't show up on a crop sensor.
