In AF the shutter will work only when the green hexagon is lit. In manual mode, the shutter operates at any time, but the hexagon still confirmes focus. I find my Pentax-A 1.7/50 easiest to handle in manual mode.

Cool, thought so. Like the fact that its a sort buffer for me eyes! Just gotta remember to put it on AF.S so it does not think the centre is the focus point when reframing.

This discusson should probably have been in another section, but... I don't see the relevance of pressing the AF button with this manual focus lens. And it will use the centre spot regardless of the camera settings.

That's what I only discovered yesterday! By default catch-in-focus works with with any manual lens (with an electrically conductive mount) and the camera set to AF. But if your camera has 'AF by press halfway' (item 14) disabled in the custom menu, then catch-in-focus doesn't work unless you are als...
