Firstly thanks to everybody who entered , i really have found this difficult any one from 6 could have won it.

winner Ariban , really well caught shot , very sharp and clear and has i do a lot of wildlife , i no its pretty hard to catch birds in flight especially with Pentax has its not the fastest focussing equipment in the world so congratulations and well done.

Was'nt going pic a runner up has i said liked a lot of these , has a chap of few words i will have a go at this so sorry if i offend anybody or repeat myself or my typing ain't to good i apologise now. But i'm no expert and don't really do a lot of writing in my line of work Miner Driller , etc lol so here goes

ARTHUR

Lovely dog , few highlights are blown and has you say focus a bit off , like the b&w and the name Artur suits him

From Mam Tor

Nice landscape like the gloomy sky , brings back youthful memories of my stay in a youth hostel in Castleton. Those were the days

Dog rose

lovely flower shot , like pastel shade of the petals , nice and sharp.

Tulip

Again nice , lovely bokeh , and like the solitary feel to it , smashing

Thrifty fifty

At 2 quid what more his their to say bargain , like the dew drops

Incence burner

Nice feeling to this , lovely depth to the composition , and lighting , super shot.

Small but perfectly formed

Really like this a lot , think the colours and the depth of focus spot on , a fav

A warmer may

A nice shot of the rose and buds just about to blossom

What dof

Yes that sure has some depth of field , still have'nt figured out what it is lol bottle ?

Criterium

Well taken action shot , just the right amount of blur in the wheels giving sense of movement, nice bike too

Teddy

Cute dog , nice shadow , not to sure about the p&p and the focus on the face though.

Snouts alive

Fun photo took on the way home made me smile

Portrait of rose 53

Like this , the darkness matches the dark red of the rose very well , clever p&p giving it a nice gothic look

Fairground attraction

Gives the movement and lighting of a fairground ride , spinning around on a ride , well done

Pills and potions

Crikey thats a lot of pills Glyn , this shot certainly makes you think , hope your recovery goes well and all the best

Left out in the rain

Done this a few times , shows the effect of wet paper well .

Shadowplay

Good title , nice shot like the b&w , imo would have liked the dark at the bottom cropped out , but very nice like it

Enchanted forest

Like the depth of this trees trees and more trees , like the b&w too .

Had to be

yep one of nifty fiftys nice and close .

Blues harmonica

Smashing portrait , love the tear on the cheek , and the whole feeling to this , fab.

Island

Don't really get the title to this , looks busy though .

Heads up

like this , composition and depth great , sharp were it needs to be , like the subject

Dandelion sphere

Very different , looks like a glass globe or marble with the dandelion inside , nice p&p

Chloe

lighting , background , composition all super like the slanted position great .

You looking at me

Great close up of this chap , nice sharpness to the eye , really shows the scales of these chaps to great effect brill.

Abbey of gold

Great interior shot , matches the title with the light on the golds .

Little fly

Like the black fly against the white of the flower , makes it stand out very nice.

9 x 50

Great shot , must of took a lot of setting up this , but was well worth it , very clever well thought out shot, super.

River Bourde

nice creamy stream effect shot , these always make think of the sound of a running stream , lovely shot.

Chameleon

Not really at the top of my food list surprised to hear cats love em , nice depth of field and sharpness .

hope i have'nt missed anybody and thanks again for entering.

A very tough competition to judge with such a totally open theme.

I would never have thought that you could capture a bird in flight with a 50mm lens - impressive

Well done Ariban to grab a fast moving shot like this with a 50mm lens - and to produce such a sharp image.
Thanks Nipper for the subject, at first I didn't think I would be able to enter but then you relaxed the rules so I could use my 50-135mm lens at 50. That was handy because I was using it for the cycle racing in Durham on Thursday night. I have a 1.7mm 50, manual focus, but use it extremely rarely.
Thanks for all the comments.

Excellent winning shot Ariban, very well captured for a 50mm makes it extra special. Thanks for the theme and the judging Nipper.

Very rare for me but my shot (Portrait of Rose at 53) didn't have any PP to it, although I agree it looks like it did.

Well done to all, great stuff!

Many thanks, nipper, for a great new, unique, subject which I think provided some fantastic diversity.

I guess this diversity made review and judging exceedingly difficult but I think you approached it very well and made it look far too easy .

Congratulations to airban for such a wonderful winning shot and everyone else for another fantastic set of images.
