This is as you know is my very first time judging so Iam a bit nervous, as this competition is about water I said to myself that it would be fine I can do that, then I looked at the photos that every one has submitted and WOW I didn’t expected that! Anyone that has done this job can appreciate it is very hard.
Whenever I look at a photograph I look into it to see how much effort has gone into the photo, and I can say without any doubt there has been a lot gone into this weeks competition. Iam also quite surprised at how many new members have entered and that’s great to see so. Thank you all so very much for submitting your photos.

I love shots like these I find this shot is very calming, I like how you have caught the reflections on the shallow water with the little duck, this is a Beautiful picture well done.

I like the way the duck is washing itself and the sun hitting the water, I think shots like this they are very hard to catch, and with the movement of the bird and water it is very hard to get just right so well done John you got it right.

The location looks great the way the waves hits the rocks and the rolling of sea is Spectacular, I really like the way you caught the moment of the people on the rocks fishing, it is a Lovely photo.

This is one of those shots that I think is just great, the house on the edge of the lake the mist on the water creeping in from the middle of the lake, and the reflections show off the light that is available. The boat house looks so still and very peaceful you got it how it is, Wonderful picture.

The way you have caught the fish and the shadows of the fish on the sand in the water is great! Your focus on the fish and how clear the water is makes this shot a super one, really well done.

Quite a simple shot but very powerful one, we don’t see shots with the sea hitting a wooden bank like this with a garden in view of the shot, sounds and looks like where you work is a very photogenic place.

All I can say to this is New Zealand water WOW I would love to go there! Sorry I got carried away then. This photo has a lot going on, the mountains the lake boat and the wooden spike and the rocks you got as much in this photo as you could, I think this has it all! Great shot.

Well I just love the milky photo shots of the sea the lakes, pools every type of Exposure Time that can create, time laps shots like this if this was your first independent attempt, then very well done. It’s a very nice shot.

This is a great attempt at a very strong silhouette but it has turned out to be a very soft silhouette and very atmospheric shot, you did well to get the misty look to it and the people boarding the boat, well done to a lovely shot.

Well this is a very unusual and interesting photo, I really like the way you have made this image yours what I mean is you have used your creativity to make a completely different look to a sea scrape, with the depth of field with using the pipe good idea.

This is a great shot with lots of Action in it! Wow the waves are Magnificent, with the jet skier handling the waves brilliantly, well done to him and well done to you for seeing the shot.

This is one of the nicest reflections shots ive seen the only criticism I can make is I would have not put the boat in the photo with such a lovely reflection, BUT it is still a Fantastic reflection photo.

This is such a very funny shot I must say I have never seen any think like this before, lol I would love to know after all he’s effort did he catch any thing its such a great shot.

Photo lyns_green
Well it’s different and I do like the ripples and the light on the top of the water gives it a calming effect.

I know what dogs are like Ive got one, lol mine dog does the same and once he’s in you cant get em out, this says it all in one I love the way his head pops out of the water and it looks like his tail is really wagging, you have caught the moment well.

I do like the sunset you were lucky to get a lot into one photo as you have got it all, one the sun going down over the sea and the wooden house on stilts in the water with the light bouncing off the window, and the boat bobbing in the sea it was a shame it was your last day, I would love to more of your photos.

This shot I have some thing like it, so I know it is a hard photo to get as wildlife is so unpredictable, it can move run away or fly away lol and to get the water drip and the swans head just right but you got it and what a Beautiful picture Well done.

This is a lovely soft focused shot; I love the water drop just about to fall and the soft vending around the edges, as it makes your eyes fall into the middle of the shot great stuff.

This is one of them photos that I really like as it’s where I go every year for my holidays, I know this harbour, and the way you have portrayed it is very well done indeed, a very good job with doing it in HDR well done.

Absolutely love silhouette sea shots and you have knock this one right out the ball park, the long depth field the fisher men in the front and the sea obviously in the middle and the ship into infinity, I like the sun going down into the sea just waiting for it to hiss. Really great shot!

Water drops and water affects like this is an art in its self if I remember correctly you put a water still life on the site a couple of weeks ago and kicked the hell out of one my photos lol your getting too good at this, and with this entry is a wonderful shot as well with good camera work.

This is a Beautiful picture and tells a story the dogs are playing but at the same time they really want that stick, I wonder who won the stick in the end, great water spray droplets flying off them both it’s just a lovely photo well done.

This is a Very dramatic and fast looking shot the rain on the car gives it that golden glow that makes the shot shine, and stand out really well. For you to stand in the rain for your son and to take such a fabulous photo must make him proud of you.

This is a classic shot and I love em the blue sky meets the blue sea the lights at the end of the board walk makes me want to run down it and just jump in lol I really like this you have made a Beautiful picture.

This photo is absolutely wonderful the way you caught the rain clouds and the sky, this is a pretty darn incredible shot!

So you raised the colours a touch to give the shot a bit more balance, and it works really well you got the colour spot on! I really love the way you have caught the reflections in the water this is a lovely photo.

I like Beach scenes and I like this one as well I love the clouds and the sun just peeping through them, it looks like the sea just waking up the only thing that I would say is that the sea is just a little dark other wise a great shot.

The mighty river flood indeed I love it, the tree funnily enough looks right where it is even though it’s in the middle of the flood, I do like the colours in this shot and it just draws you in to the picture, it is a Natural Photograph.

This is an outstanding shot I just love it, macro Photography, I have not really given it a go myself but looking at this photo I just might! Its great how you have got so much detail in this shot the water drops on the leaf is just superb it is an excellent shot!

Water tumbling over a canal lock gate, It looks great I would have said it was ice fooled me what a Fantastic way at looking at it! I like it in b/w looks great really well done wow.

Iam always interested in the way water locks together like this, and to see it in ice form the way you have seen it makes it a supper shot I like the long dagger look to the ice as if it falls it would kill some one! Oh sorry just thinking out lol and a great first Pentax shot.

Interesting shot the splash against the wood looks great; to capture the water running so fast and to wait so long and try so hard to get the shot you want does pay off so well done that man.

The long look of the sand with the water running back to the sea and the family that looks like there crabbing out on the sand makes this shot look like the end of an holiday for the family, so nice to see that this still goes on well done good shot.

This is a full on romantic shot it gives that impression, the lovers walk hand in hand on the sand when the sun is going down, I will have to stop this now as my wife wants to go on the beach now lol it’s a Powerful silhouette and says a lot but the sun is a bit to strong and takes over the scene but still a well shot photo.

This shot is a very still looking photo with the sky with just a few clouds and the reservoir flat but the shot has real life to it and full of lovely blue colour it is a Lovely photo.

This is an incredible shot I just love the waves as they come in from the ocean, I like the way the waves just fall and roll over and onto the rocks and land and at the top of the wave sea spray this is a great shot well done.

This is one shot that says FUN and it looks great, I really love the massive splash they have made coming down hitting the water it is a good capturer.

I have already seen this photo and I still think it’s a Beautiful scenic view, the wonderful colours and reflection you could turn this upside down and still get the same result.

This is a wonderful shot I like the way you looked into the idea of mixing the ice and rocks with the water running through I had a good look and 1.sec I would have never have known that so well done Another lovely photograph.

This shot has great detail super colour and a different look, I like this a lot the ice that holds on the rock and has stuck like glue to it, the falling water behind the rock give it a feel of coldness to the whole photo Spot on.

What can I say but Magnificent what a Beautiful photo it does catch your eye and the colours are fab, the reflections in the whole shot is lovely I really think this is one of your best shots really is well done.

Even though you say it’s a crummy bit of art you have made it look beautiful, and you did the whole of the shot in full Manual mode I like that the light hitting the water as it comes out and you have stopped it from blurring.

WOW what a shot you got this one right, I love the why they are having fun in the middle of the city fountain, the photo is so very clear and really fun loving it’s a great shot I love it.

You know what Mr M J Leader this is a great photo you have seen the water and put some great framing around the shot and it’s just enough, the colours are supper green and the water is just right so pat on the back to a great photo.

I think looking at the photo it looks like he has just landed. I know how hard shots like this can be, and know how long you have to wait, sometimes you can get the shot you want in a second or you can wait days for it! In this shot you have had the patience’s to wait and it has paid off it’s a great shot.

The Ancient Mariner is right for this shot love the colour of the sea very blue and where the sky meets it, with the white sails of the ship against the sky looks good as well, I love the vending around the frame well seen.

This is a Spectacular sunset of the Florida cost you must have been very happy when you seen the out come of this shot its, very Beautiful with the colours mixing well this is a lovely photo.

Very tranquil shot nice slow movement of the water fall and very good depth of field with the stones in view, reminds me of the summer.

This give the feel of very fast moving water and looks like it is, gives a feel that there is a rainbow in the water not bad.

This is a supper shot the water looks like milk as it’s that fast and the guy in the canoe, looks like he’s loving every minute of it and iam as well.

This really is my type of shot! there really fun to do and when you get them right they look great and so does this well done.

So here are the results,

1. Bentota anglers photo by Dr. Mhuni,
The winner, I just love the waves coming in and rolling over onto the rocks and the fishermen fixing the rods and getting ready to fish. Well seen and well taken.

2. The Duke of Portland by marklj.
This is a Stunning picture, just a Beautiful soft looking and very peaceful photo.

3. Spray Away. Photo by Still27
This is a real fun shot and it is fun to see these two fighting over that stick there is just something about this shot I love.

4. Nimbus Rising Photo by aliengrove
I felt I had to add this, so I made up a 4th place and I must say it’s a great photo and very powerful one! great shot.

I would like to say that all the photographs in this competition are all winners in there our right, and this was really one of the hardest jobs I have had to do so Please forgive me if I have upset anyone, I have not meant to do so! It has been very hard to make my decision its has been an honour to judge all of your photo entries, so thank you all for making my life hell lol no only joking.

Thank you all very much indeed.

Nice to wake up to a positive result. Many thanks for the commendably prompt judging Puma, and picking my image. Congrats to the other places. Will put my thinking hat on re. the next theme and post it later.

A word of warning, though - I might not be able to maintain the exemplary trend of recent weeks for the judging/result to be posted shortly after the midnight deadline, as that is 0530am here. So don't stay up late in expectation! OTOH I think I should be safe in saying European early risers will wake up to a result.
