Following the announcement of the theme "love" I knew it was my fault ... 22 pictures! That's all that could deliver!!! "The Fifth Element"... people write novels, shoot film ..and 22 pictures! Sabotage!!! And I realized love is no more. I m sorry, but I can not judge anyone ...

@Conexus: Congrats!
@Konstantin: the competition is not obligatory - if someone is out of time/ideas and he does not have any shots on the subject that he likes he may choose not to compete at all instead of hastily "borrowing" ideas or posting shots that are similar to shots posted before in the competition. I doubt that the forum members are deliberately avoiding the "love" theme.
Kind regards,
Alex

Looking at previous entries into comps from recent weeks 22 entries seems like a good turnout.
I can't see what the problem is with judging, by picking a winner you have started the judging process anyway.
And well done conexus for winning.

I always look forward to the comments as I learn so much about what works and what doesn't - please finish off the task as it is an important part of the comps konstantin.

Congratulations Conexus. A really nice, warm, relaxed portrait.
Konstantin, I don't think the number of entries reflects your theme. It has been on the wane for a while and 20-something is the going rate now.

Well done Conexus - beautiful photo and well deserved win.
Sorry to hear Konstantin is not judging more - I thought it was a well covered subject considering the time of year etc.

Thanks all for the congrats.
I have been a member of the Pentax forum since 2009, just after I bought my Pentax 200d. I have entered many competitions and was really pleased just to receive feedback. This picture is not technically a great picture but I thought it reflected a great theme. I wasn’t at all familiar with the camera. ( I think I probably had drank a few Sauvignon Blancs) EXCIF even shows the camera was landscape mode ( John Riley thank you for the feedback when I originally posted the picture!)
But you know as well as I do, photography is about moments, composition and emotion.
I have just watched a tv programme by Rankin on reshooting some Hollywood legendary images.
A couple of things struck me
1. Portrait Photography is about participation, your model has to feel they are part of the process
2. Human emotion can only be captured if there is real emotion felt or acted emotion portrayed ( that’s why a great model can make a difference)
I’d like to think over the last 2 years I have got better , but happy accidents can still make great pictures and learning techniques leads to greater serendipity.

Well said Mike! and congrats on winning.
In truth, it is not "wrong" to not enter a competition. It is not mandatory on the site. These competitions should be done with a spirit of fun and pleasure and opportunity. It is a learning experience of great value. When I enter, I have an opportunity to learn how to improve a photo...an opportunity to learn how another might see my photo different. The judge on the other hand has an opportunity to look at photos in a different way; to see what may be improved upon...and in doing so, it also makes him/her more aware of thier own work. It then becomes a win-win situation. As nice as it is to win...it is just as nice to learn, share and be a part of a photographic community, that loves what you do and how you do it...and in this case..even what you are doing it with (Pentax equip.).
I do feel you miss the point of the comp....you say, "only 22"?...really?...
When does love have to do with the numbers. Did you look at each picture submitted....
pictures that were FULLof love. I think you owe it to each of us whom contributed, to share what OUR photos did for you, and what you thought of each picture in terms of your theme and how well they were technically.
Come on...show a bit of love and finish the adjudications and comments. Pick our runner-ups. Do it just for the LOVE of it!

Gee that seems really really harsh to me. Just because you did not get as many as you wanted....why would you not take the time and comment on the photos that you did receive? The people who took the time to enter and took the time to wait for your comments should not held accountable for those who did not take the time. I must say that your reaction does not seem very loving either. Does two wrongs make a right???Following the announcement of the theme "love" I knew it was my fault ... 22 pictures! Well said Judithann,
I am new to photography and after getting my new Kx for christmas I have taken a few pics, and this is the 1st comp I entered and 1st black and white that I have converted.
I have posted a few shots now and like to get feed back from other members to let me know what I am doing wrong, and also what I can do to correct it by using photo editing software, this I am still having trouble with.
Please keep the comments coming.
Regards
Andy
