Weekly #752 - The camera Competition
Thank you for the winning vote, I had a momentary bout of creativity.
I took a look back at previous competitions and I can't see that this has been challenged before... so here goes.
I want to turn the camera on itself, and ask you to enter the best image you can of a camera. Be it old, new, classic, I want your best composition.
Usual rules apply, in that the image must be taken using a Pentax, but the one in the image can be any camera.
Rules guidance can be found here: https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/weekly-competition-rules--amp--guidance-6...

Im not sure why the exif data is not appearing but this is a recent thing that's happening

The two big cameras at the front of my pic were meant to be the bouncers… standing under the street lights.
Well done to the winner and runners up and thanks to RayW for the summary

Flan….
Have you changed your method of working your photos?
Some systems lose the exif data.
Also if you copy an area and place it in a new window…
that loses the exif, too. Far better to crop and save as.
Those are just a couple of examples…. off the top of me bonce.
When it has happened to me, I’ve duplicated the original photo, pasted the new version, unlocked and deleted the original, then saved as the new file name.
Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...

the same camera, lens and scene...

The podium:
1. Weightless by johnriley
2. My first camera by PRYorkshire
3. Kodak Retinette by Noelcmn
My Dads camera by Flan
A picture laced with memories! Great sharp focus on the lens ring, which I think is the place to focus for this type of shot. I wish I could see the whole of the case as well. The monochrome treatment works well for this too given the age of the camera. Unfortunately the EXIF data doesn’t confirm it to be taken with a Pentax.
Kodak Retinette with flash by Noelcmn
You sold it to an antiques dealer. I just bought one from an antiques dealer. Could it be the same one? This gets into the spirit of the competition and I like the inclusion of the classic camera. I would have like the focus to be sharp on the numbers on the lens ring. I also like the shallow depth of field and bokeh.
When good cameras go bad by drofmit
Oh I feel the shame of the little LS1100, in front of those big cameras. I like the humour and the arrangement, but I find the two at the sides pulling my eye from the subject, which is the little one in the middle. Impressive range of kit on display.
Weightless by johnriley
This is a super clean image, and again I like the humour. It’s a nicely balanced image and my only very picky recommendation would be that if the balance was perfectly level it would completely nail the “weightless” point. The simplicity is great, there are no distractions. Focus is exactly on the camera.
My First Camera by PRYorkshire
Another clean image with no distractions. The camera is nicely posed showing itself off well. Nicely lit too. Maybe just a little too dark shadow on the near side. A lovely old camera and exactly what I was looking for. And I note, taken specially for this contest.
Divided Loyalties by Perspicador
An interesting portrait, and nicely composed. It completely tells the story of the photographer in the image being ignored by the goat in favour of the one taking the image. It doesn’t really make the camera the subject of the image though. The colours work well in the image especially the yellow fence and the blue clothing.
My First My Last My Everything. Ancient and modern, by vic cross
Exactly what the spec said, an image of a camera or two. Clean background and no distraction from the subject. Just a little bit “straight on” for my liking. Well shot and good focus though.
