A good choice of awards winners Nigel. The old boots photo certainly deserved top marks. Thanks for the competition and keen-eyed judging Nigel.

Age is relative by Mag07
We all see differently, which is good.
My personal critique
80 plus-year-old Eyes by Mudge
A nice sharp shot. I think further experiment with lighting and direction of gaze could give even stronger results.
Narrow-gauge Steam railway by Perspicador
Lovely little engine plying its trade. The photo makes you want to climb aboard and enjoy a gentle chuff through that lovely countryside. I do think that you missed a trick by not using portrait orientation for this shot, it would give us the lead lines of the platform edge and the tracks not to mention the base of the engine.
Beyond help by mikeprotts
Or not it seems! What a great find. I wish the main subject was a bit sharper, the sky could perhaps be cropped to help keep our eyes on the main subject. I do hope you post more pictures as this fascinating project develops.
Age is relative by Mag07
Old, positively ancient! In the right place at the right time. Lovely shot of this very special, spiritual place.
Tough as old boots by Jockey1
Lovely mud caked old boots.
The boots on their own would be good, with the sledge hammer it become a composition. Beautifully arranged and photographed.
Ash Victoria Hall by GlynM
Nicely framed photo, I like your use of tone. For me the main attraction of this old hall is the front facade, a few steps to the right would have given more emphasis to the front and reduced the impact of the less special side of the building.
Duigan Bi-Plane(Detail) by i-Berg
Heath Robinson springs to mind. This is quite a cluttered shot so difficult to enter, however it rewards the patient viewer with some lovely early 20th century engineering.
Old Battered and Proud by Stevecanlay
Love this natural outside portrait. A tough call for it to miss out on a podium place. Lovely characterful face well caught from a good angle.
Auld Dennis by Snakey
Lovely shot of Dennis. The only fly in the ointment for me, that wheel on the ground, it is very dominant, which if it were similar to those on Dennis would work well but it isn't. I wish you'd rolled it out of the way. Other than that, lovely shot.
Old and Rare by wozfromcov
Frame filling shiny Humber. Like the angle like the processing, cracking!
Old Smokey Imposter by benjibob
Another lovely shot, this Flying Scotsman wan-a-be appearing through a cloud of its own steam and smoke, we even have a sympathetically aged building as a backdrop. I just wish you had cropped the left side of the image slightly to remove the section of modern grey sign. In all other respects...fab!
Circa1850hand coloured Daguerrotype Portrait by MikeInDevon
What a lovely old photograph to own. Nicely photographed and presented.
The Good Old Days by JAK
Pounds shilling and pence, there's a blast from the past. Well photographed display, that modern sticker on the granny Smiths needs cloning out.
Outside the Milliners Shop by davidtrout
A nicely framed shot of an historic display, I cannot find fault.
Rusting in peace by Noelcmn
A great find, I like your high key toned treatment...but.....I wish you had either moved that black pipe out of the way or clone it out, it does distract from an otherwise good photograph.
Fido by Simonmac
The use of humour was always going to attract my attention. I like your thinking and the end result.
Going Up or Down by ken2390
Well capture funicular. You've capture the steepness of the slope well, the tracks giving great lead lines and perspective.
Something expensive by stu62
You've captured some great lighting of the main figurine subject matter and good use of depth of field control, the slight spoiler for me is the red roof of the car behind cutting through the middle of the main subject. Either a slight change in camera position or failing that as the figure is basically monochrome convert the image to B&W would reduce the impact of the background car on your image.
Austin 7 by paulb531
A rock solid car portrait. What more can I say? The only minor thing, it would have been nice if possible to have removed the white notice in the front windscreen. I know these thing are not always possible.
Our Old-oak Shed Door by drofmit
With all the textures and tones us photographers are always drawn to these kinds of subject matter. Long may it continue to hang and age. Mind you given a few more years you'll not be able to see it for the ivy.
Please remember these are just my views. Keep doing what you want the way you want to, that is important.
