An afternoon out

Beautiful photos, I love number one and number three the best. What camera did you use because the colours are wonderfully rich, just like what my K200D produces :)

my other half is saying "not another camera" "not another lens" LOLThey really don't understand, do they...? And the 55-300mm is a very good lens. But unless you're desperate for 300mm, it isn't going to give you much more than your bargain 50-200mm. So you can tell your other half in all honesty that you've thought about getting another lens but she's right, you really don't need it. Which should build up credit for you for the time when another lens is definitely needed... Brilliant Steve lol Steve

Nice pic's and nice purchase. The purist prime snobs will often decry zooms but I love 'em even though I have umpteen primes to choose from. Try the 55-300 if you can. A superb lens with extra reach an relatively cheap.:smile:I use to have the 18-135mm which was a good lens but a bit heavy if I remember. I have looked at the 55-300mm it looks like a very good lens too but I will have to hold back on that purchase for a while, my other half is saying "not another camera" "not another lens" LOL

It seems we are like-minded WiltshireBorn as I have just won the same model lens on the well known auction site for £45 inc p&p, hopefully it will be as good as yours. :liked: I can't wait to try it.Well that sounds a bigger bargain than what I got lol. There are some bargain lenses out there if you look, why pay hundreds for a lens when you don't have to.

Hello, Long time reader and Pentaxian for 15+ years - started out with a K1000 gifted by my old man, went digital with the K70 (film to digital, what a game changer!) and now armed with a KP - what a fantastic camera. Brings me joy whenever I pick it up. Glad to be here :)Welcome and I envy you with your KP. I had one a year or so ago and sold it and have regretted it ever since

Fabulous images, I particularly like the third image. That 55-300mm lens is a cracking lens by the looks of it :)

Looks like a good purchase. It's amazing what you can get for a modest sum if you're not wanting to spend a small fortune plus an arm and a leg to get the latest monster that's so sharp you can shave with it. And I'm sure you'll get as much pleasure from the 50-200mm as you would from a much more expensive lens . SteveI have had more expensive lenses in the past both with Pentax and Olympus but always have found the budget lens more than enough for my own use.

I have the non WR one.... I need to play it more. I rarely ever use zooms... well with the exception of my 10 - 20mm. Even tho I mainly use that at 10mm!! After seeing you shots. I am gonna make a point of sticking it on, and going out with no other lenses!!:grin:I went through a phase of using primes but found myself always needing something a bit longer or a bit wider ha ha!

I think this lens and the 18-55 WR punch well above their weight when stopped down a bit, especially when compared to the kit lenses of the 90’s. We are spoiled nowadays! Yes I agree and that can also be said for a lot of budget lens these days.

An often overlooked lens, and such great value for money - a short tele-zoom in a WR package with good IQ - nice examples of what it (and you!) can do :cool:Thank you Lenny, yes great value and the quality is more than enough for my needs

I bought a DA 50-200m WR lens off E-Bay for £68 which complements my 18-55mm. I took a couple of quick photos in my back garden and it seems the lens is nicely sharp

And welcome back to the fold from me, too. But ignore Spad's 'brotherhood of loonies', we're the sane ones, it's the rest of the world that's gone crazy . SteveYour not wrong there Steve, it's the rest of them alright :)

Welcome back in to brotherhood of loonies!! Loving your photos as well! I absolutely adore my Pentax kit! K3, K5ii, K-S2, and an IR K20d. My next target is the K3 Monochrome. Just meed to wait for the prices to drop, then find a used one! I also have two Canon DSLR's. An astro modded 600D and a 5D MkII - both only used for astrophotography. Unfortunately Pentax is a nightmare to get them working, or they just don't work, with software I use to plan and align an astro shoot. I find this really frustrating, and annoying, as for me - my Pentax colour cameras shoot better images and feel they're hugely better quality. Oh.... and theyre weather proofed and work in lower temperatures too! I am planning an astro shoot with my K-S2, but aligning it with either my guide kit, or a Canon then swapping it out for my K-S2. I hope it works :smile::smile: Just need the bloody weather to stop being crap!!!:lol::grin:Well thank you for your welcome, I am here to stay this time. I live down in Devizes, Wiltshire and the weather this year has been so wet, I really feel sorry for the local farmers whose crops have been decimated.

I have recently downsized all my mirrorless camera gear, down to a old but amazing Olympus Stylus 1, a brilliant little camera great to slip into a coat pocket and with it's 28-300mm f2.8 zoom, covers most situations. But I went out the other day with my K200D and fell in love again with my Pentax and the beauty of a OVF, plus of course the wonderful images from the 10mp CCD sensor. I sold all my previous Pentax bodies, K7, K3 and I even had a KP at one time and I deeply regret selling that. I keep getting drawn back to a DSLR, I only have a 18-55mm WR lens and a few old Pentax MF lenses at the moment but I have just bought a 50-200mm WR lens off E-Bay to make a nice twin lens set for my K200D, which I took out in the rain the other day and did not have to worry about it getting wet. I am due to get my state pension next January and I have decided that I am going to treat myself to another Pentax DSLR, not sure which one yet, maybe another KP or perhaps the newer K3iii? Anyway, I am back in the Pentax fold and feeling very happy about it, here are a few of my photos.

Just like yourself, I don't use Pentax as my main camera but I recently bought a K200D from MPB for £55 with just over 4000 actuations. I have a few Pentax fit lenses lying around so I took the camera out and was pleasantly surprised with the results.
