You’re right Jonathan, there have been a few similar apps over the years, and I totally get the “too lazy” part, keeping track can feel like a chore. What I’m aiming for with Frames is to reduce that friction by covering the whole process in one place, from jotting down notes while shooting to reintegrating the metadata into your final scans. The idea is to make it as smooth and convenient as possible, so it doesn’t feel like extra work.

I’ve been shooting film for years, mostly 35mm and medium format, and like many of you, I love the process as much as the results. But I always found it hard to keep track of what I shot, on which roll, with what camera or lens, and how I rated certain stocks over time. That frustration eventually led me to build Frames, a small app for iOS and macOS to help log film rolls, gear, and settings, and to later reconnect those notes to the scans using the EXIF metadata.

It’s been a personal project for quite a while, and I’m finally putting it out there. If anyone here feels like giving it a try or sharing thoughts, I’d really appreciate it. I'm always open to ideas to improve it further, the community’s insight would mean a lot.
