OK, I can live without Live View, but the grid is a neat function, and would be neat in the K10D even if it were only superimposed over the Digital Preview image. But I'd still like to see FF/BF adjustments, dust finder and intervalometer installed "backwards" into the K10D.
I'll poke about and see if I can find the Dutch forum, but I'm not the one to make any code modifications.
Somewhere on-line I recently read that if you can down-grade the K10D firmware to v1.00 (or maybe it was v1.1??) that there is a way to work through the menus more deeply into the firmware to a point where you can adjust FF/BF, but that ability is of course not a standard visible menu option. Once the adjustments are made there, I suspect you'd want to follow the normal firmware upgrade again. But there seemed to be a trick (maybe the debug mode program mentioned above) to getting the earlier firmware installed.
And if in some future body Pentax wanted to add a swing out-and-swivel viewing screen with Live View, ala my little Canon S1 IS, that'd be a welcome feature, too.
Thank you, all, for your comments.

The K10D and K20D are near dead-ringers in physical appearance, and very similar in functions. But, yes, the K20D has features that are lacking in the K10D. I suspect many of them are improvements to the firmware, but can't help wondering ..... is it possible to install the K20D firmware in a K10D, and if so, has anyone actually done it, and again if so, how did it work? The features I would like to see "added" to the K10D are the Live View and Grid, the dust finder, the focus adjust (for front/back focus) and the intervalometer.
Thanks ... and if this is a really stupid question, please don't be too hard on me
