Dave and Dave - as members have expressed an interest in the other lenses from this collection I saw no harm in advising when they would be available. I did think that it could be the coating as they are definatley uniformly spaced across the entire surface but it is something that I have never seen before

Hi, I have a Pentax-A 35-135mm f/3.5-4.5 which at first glance is in excellent condition but when I have studied it under bright light, the middle element seems to be covered in what I can only describe as tiny silver sparkles. They are smaller than a pinhead and appear to be spread uniformly across the entire surface. They are so small they can only be seen when tilted at a certain angle but they are definately there.
Any ideas on what they could be?

I would suggest that everyone keeps their money in their pocket until my second collection goes on. Mint condition lenses, a seller with a solid trading history, positive feedback from the buyer of the A* 200mm macro and very happy to accept Paypal

It would be rude of me to say

It appears very much as though it is original, it certainly doesn't look like it's been stuck on as an afterthought. Maybe a Pentax branding exersise for * lenses? Unless anyone can remember back to when they were new in the stores it would be hard to say I guess.

I believe that the £1000 estimate for the A* is conservative, at least i'm hoping so.
I often start auctions at 99p and let them find their level but these lenses are so special that I just couldnt do that. My start prices are the minimum that I would be comfortable with.
