I know I'm coming late to this one but I also agree that the K1 II is the Best full frame camera I've ever used (with the exception of sports photography where I still love my D5 best). I will definitely be buying a second body now that Pentax seem unlikely to be making a replacement but I'm holding out for a silver one. Good call on keeping it!

Hi all, this is a speculative post, but if anyone is interested in selling their 70-210 F4, I am a willing buyer! I have checked online and there are a couple of new ones around at list (or close), or well priced ones in Japan - but no used stock in the UK. Equally if anyone has tips on where to look apart from eBay I'd be very grateful.

Some really interesting views here, I have enjoyed reading them all. I came to Pentax relatively recently having mainly shit Mirrorless (starting with Sony, then Micro Four Thirds for many years and eventually settling on Nikon Z for a few years). I used to always think I wanted a smaller camera, but it was getting a Nikon D4S that made me realise the comfort of handling a camera matters more than the weight. I still kept my Nikon ZF, but in all honesty since I got the K1 Mark II Last year it has had very little use. If you really want Mirrorless I can recommend Nikon Z in particular because they are the best for adapting vintage lenses. As a travel set-up for my last trip I took the K1 II with the 43mm 1.9, and the 135mm 3.5. With these two lenses this was about as light and easy to handle travel set up as I can imagine ever wanting. Apologies if that was a ramble but thought it might be of interest coming from someone who didn't start in the Pentax ecosystem but came from Mirrorless.

Thanks for the post - you make some excellent points! I have doing photography for a long time but I sometimes feel like a beginner so all information is useful and interesting. Sharpness has it's place but it certainly isn't the be all and end all, and in my case practicing with older lenses has certainly improved my own photography and helped me produce images that I am pleased with. I find that the modern trend of seeking "perfection" often produces sterile images that could have been taken with a smartphone.

Great photos, I was not aware of this 55mm but it looks like in the hands of a skilled photographer it is an excellent lens!

Hello all, I thought I would introduce myself as others have done.

I have always enjoyed photography, but really in the last 10 years it has become my main hobby (sports, travel, portraits and street). After flirtations with various systems I settled in with Micro Four Thirds for a number of years, mainly driven by the need to take photos of my children's sports and the variety of excellent telephoto options on the system. My father was a professional photographer and he has stayed loyal to Nikon since the 1960s. I bought him a Christmas gift a few years ago of a Nikon DF. He barely used it as he preferred his D800E, so he ended up gifting it to me. It was my first experience using an OVF and I was hooked. I ended up selling my Micro Four Thirds gear and going all in with Nikon (including a ZF). I used both mirrorless and DSLR, but I enjoyed DSLR much more.

I have always wanted a Pentax because I admire the brand, their innovations and history, and also because they are the underdog in the camera world. I had owned the GRII and later the GRIIIX, and came very close to purchasing a K1 in Japan last year.

A few weeks ago I spotted a 43mm 1.9 on facebook marketplace for an absolute bargain, and since when I was in Japan it was that lens that fascinated me the most, I went and bought it. I then needed to add a camera so picked up a K1 Mark II. I have since sold off some of my Nikon gear to help fund my newfound love for Pentax and picked up some other lenses along the way. The handling and the lenses on my K1 are the best I have used (my second favourite camera being my Nikon D4S).

I must say that part of the appeal of the brand is also the active users who seem to really have an affection for Pentax and are kind enough to share and assist other users.

Thanks for having me, looking forward to many more years as a Pentaxian (and if it ever gets launched buying a brand new K1 Mark III!).

I also visited the show yesterday and was both happy and disappointed. Happy Pentax were there, and they had lots of lenses in the cabinet. Disappointed by the staff on the stand - they had never heard of Pentax until that morning and were unaware that Ricoh and Pentax were part of the same group. I asked to test the 50mm 1.4, and the poor chap didn't know how to remove a lens from the body. I was even more disappointed that they weren't able to sell me any lenses and directed me to the WEX stand - who only had two DA lenses in stock. I really wanted to buy a 10-17mm directly from Pentax to support them - since they couldn't sell me one I ended up buying one from ebay when I got home.

Thank you for the comments, I use the 135mm with the K1 Mark II. I am fairly new to Pentax and to vintage glass but have been doing photography for many years. I had always wanted to try Pentax (mainly a Nikon shooter), and when I found a 43mm 1.9 for a bargain I bought it before I had the camera! I absolutely love it and have picked up quite a few lenses already. Because I'm relatively new to using older lenses I do wonder if my technique is lacking or if I need to calibrate the lenses (I have no idea how to do this). I also have a Cosina 24mm 2.8 macro, which like the 135 produces sharp images at close to medium distances but when focusing far away the sharpness drops significantly.

I own the 135mm 3.5 and enjoy it very much, but it's not that sharp when focusing at far away objects, is the 150 better in this regard? I am tempted by this lens!
