Greetings all... back from our big adventure and had a great time in London and Amsterdam. I'm SO glad that we took the camera. Ended up taking over 1200 photos. Still paring them down to a polite number to share with folks.

We never felt out of place or in any kind of peril. We walked a LOT and rode public transportation as needed. I'm posting this in a second subject because I think the first one got locked (so no arguing on this one, y'all).

We mostly kept the camera in a square shoulder bag when not in use, but passed lots of folks with theirs out around their necks all the time (even in very crowded areas).

this is just a sampling of the pics... please feel free to comment or critique. And thanks again for the useful advise and encouragement before the trip.

Oh, I'm still going... not scared off at all.

I will try to post pictures when I get back, and I'll be careful like I should.

We are going to be in a hotel north of Hyde park at the Edgmore tube station. (Hilton Metropole) Hopefully this neighborhood won't be too bad.

We are planning on going down to the Serpentine to take pictures of the crazy people gettin in the water on Christmas day. So that might supply some good picture opportunities.

I agree... but I have to admit that the largest city I have ever walked around a bunch in until now is New Orleans, LA. I know that London will dwarf that. I've never been scared there and I know folks get robbed there everyday.

I will be traveling with my husband and will take necessary precautions, I just wanted to be assured that these were not much more stringent than I am anticipating.

Thank you very much all for the kind advice. And I'll try to post some good shots for your perusal after the adventure.

Greetings and Salutations... I am writing to get advice if possible. I hope that I will not offend with my questions, but I thought that this might be a good place to ask them.

We just purchased a Pentax K10 with the kit lens... We've had it about 2 weeks and are really enjoying it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7730579@N05/sets/72157602936488211/
these are some of the pictures we've taken with it. As you can see we are still in the learning process

We have a trip planned over Christmas and New Years to London and Amsterdam respectively. My 1st question is: would it be a bad idea for us to take this new camera, that we haven't even broken in well, with us on this trip? Are there places in London or Amsterdam where it will be in danger of theft or censure?

I would hate to be turned away from somewhere because we have it or have it stolen out right. We are planning on doing a good bit of museum trolling, and some walking tours. We are trying our best to prepare for the cold and damp and realize that many places will be closed Dec 24-26.

Our other option is to take my little P&S for snapshots, but I'm afraid we will get over there and start wishin' we'd brought the big one.

Thanks in advance for any help that y'all can provide me. This is our first trip off the North American continent and I am really excited about it.
