Found these two of an adult taken the same day. Thanks for the replys guys. Clarky these two shots were with the sigma 17/70 and I think the others were with the Tamron 70/300. I have read a few comments re the Tamron some good some bad but you can only tell it as you see it and for me the lens is well worth the money I have loads of lovely shots from this lens on Pentax k100D and k10.

When I used MF lenses on the K10D & *ist-D I got mixed results too. I was, however, relying on the autofocus system to tell me when the shot was in focus.

I pinned it down to the fact that I was pressing the shutter when the red LED lit to show the focus point. The correct focus indicator is, and only is, the GREEN Hexagon in the viewfinder

That helped a lot, but even then I ended up using only autofocus lenses because my eyesight isn't that great!

Additionally, I got hold of the O-ME53 magnifying eyepiece - and that makes the view a bit larger (about 1.20x) which may well help in manual focus situations.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Matt I will keep at it but to be honest Im toying with the idea of buying the 50mm 1.4 prime autofocus as I want to combine it to dog show and family portraits. Im too slow with the manual for the dog shows but will still continue to use the 1.7 when I can.
