I've been away from the forum for a long time, but recently read about how much of an improvement the K5 is over previous models, and was wondering about upgrading my K10D.
However, it struck me that the K5 has already been around for a while and may be due for replacement, so this thread has been an interesting read for me.
K30 has some interesting improvements over K5, but is clearly weaker in other areas. K5 replacement should combine these.
I think that I'll wait and see what the autumn brings ... though how long it will take for a new model to arrive on shelves in Philippines is anyone's guess.

In case it wasn't clear, I'm now on my fourth *ist D, not third, but it's been excellent apart from the fact that it's hard work with my old M lenses and there's little new to replace them with.
Have you tried the firmware update available from the Pentax USA site? I have just upgraded my *ist D from v1.00 to v1.10. Among other features, it enables hyper manual function when using a non-A lens.In case it wasn't clear, I'm now on my fourth *ist D, not third, but it's been excellent apart from the fact that it's hard work with my old M lenses and there's little new to replace them with.

I too spent about £1800 by the time I'd finished getting a few 'essentials'. I've been waiting 3 months for the cable release though - I think I'll try making my own.
I had my cable release delivered with the camera, back in the middle of September (from Camera World).I too spent about £1800 by the time I'd finished getting a few 'essentials'. I've been waiting 3 months for the cable release though - I think I'll try making my own.
