Thanks for solution. I need to get another flash lead then reverse the polarity as described above. As Anvh has safely used it this way I assume this won't damage my camera or flash? Its a calumet genesis unit I use, maybe other off camera flash units work ok with the K7.

Thanks searched and found the thread. Seems there no solution to x sync firing the flash again after 1st shutter release. So pleased I have an alternative camera make. Hope pentax can remedy this problem with the K7 and I believe 10D, 20D otherwise anyone taking studio shots may as well get a nikon, canon or an olympus

I have a unbrella mains flash that plugs into the X Sync socket on my Pentax K7 and Canon 5DMkII. Whilst photographing my canon works perfectly with the flash and recharges mains flash each time I press the shutter. The K7 with updated firmware fires the flash but fails to flash again unless I turn off the flash unit and switch on again. I have tried the camera using different modes but it still has the same problem. Its not a failure with the canon so assume the K7 has a fault or Pentax hasn't thought about this. Anybody else had the problem, if so is their a solution

What can I say my new pentax K7 arrived and fitted my 50mmFA1.4 onto it.Beautiful crisp shots with a broad range of dynamic tones. I have two canon bodies 5D & 5D MkII full frame with professional lenses. Very nice to have and produce nice photographs. Large to carry around and with zoom I need to use a monopod most of the time due to the weight. Have been looking at the pentax gallery and some of the images are truly outstanding with a full dynamic tones and sharp throughout. The one thing that stands out for me with the K7 is the shutter. No clonking or banging of the return mirror like my canons. The shutter I find is like the olympus DSLR, smooth, refined and clunk free, providing sharp images. Will use the K7 some more then consider selling all my canon stuff and getting some top notch pentax fit lenses.I'm not a professional photographer, just a hobby for 35 years.

Pro-master & Pentax master have all recommended Pentax DA 12-24mm F4 ED AL (IF) Zoom. A quick look on the internet can get this around mid £500s additionally filter size is 77mm that matches most of my canon lenses / cokin filters. Thanks for the information. )

Hi left Pentax a year ago selling 10D and lenses. Bought canon 5DMkII and 3 L series professional lenses one being the 70-200 2.8 L IS. Owned MX & ME Super film in the 70s. Missed pentax so repurchased my 50mm FA 1.4 lens and ordered K7D. Do the recent prime lenses from pentax compare with the other mainstream camera/lens makers for image quality and sharpness. Interested in the wide angle zooms around 10 or 16 mm makers and are pentax better than say tamron or sigma or even samsung.I particularly like the inbuilt shake reduction of pentax as the canon IS professional range cost 1000s. I am looking for the best sharpness available whilst retaining full autofocus. Thanks
