To sum up - Don’t need extra wide. Also like the idea of stitching together from my good 50-100 Pentax zoom. Have tried stitching together in Photoshop on a street view and it worked very well. No reason for it not to work on landscapes - although speed needed if clouds moving fast I guess.

Interesting to read quality issue on wide angled. Great tip re using MF on infinity. Like sound of the DA17-70, but will use my zoom and stitch until have funds to buy another lens.

The perennial problem. So - Have Tamron wide-angle (wonderful portraits and nice macro) but really wanted this wide-angled for landscapes but doesn't work for that (very, very soft and muddy detail in the landscape) Any suggestions from the worldly wise? (have the lovely K5) What Landscape lens do you love?

I guess I could go £500 and have a preference for sharp, clear landscapes but would like to try portarits and also macro. I've purchased a very cheap bolt-on macro/fisheye and am having lots of fun with that. Once again thanks.

Hi, other than the 55-300, I do have a kit 18-55 but would like to upgrade. As I've yet to specialise in most categories, could do with something in range of between 10 to 50mm, maybe pancake. Portrait, landscape and macro - but at the moment I could only aford one. I know it's subjective, but I'm getting nowhere fast.

Okay, there's been a lot said about lenses - but that's the problem. Reviews saying this or that is the best ever, are blasted by one saying same lens is complete rubbish. I've got the P 55-300mm which I like a lot, but need others - prime, wide angle, portrait...whatever. I've spent so long looking that funds are now an issue. I know I'm asking 'how long's a piece of string', but I'm tired of surfing and wasting time looking. Any tips please?

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, it's nice to be here. I really love your pics too - so inspirational. To top everything off I bought a Gem rucksack and feel like the bee's knees! Bob bought me a tripod at Christmas and I'm only just starting to use it and am pretty excited about going out and using it for real and will post some pics when I've done that.

Hi everyone, I've recently bought the K7. Just love those Pentax. However the K5 looks like it's better in low light. Anyone seen any pics taken by the K5 yet?
