Just about all I've ever shot was manual focus cameras. During full sun I relied on "sunny 16" and under other conditions I USUALLY get a proper exposure between an "experienced guess" and bracketing (along with a little help from a meter).

How do most people handle exposure in these days of auto-everything? Do you always rely on auto-exposure regardless of the sun conditions? The reason I ask these questions is I'm trying to decide whether to attempt to shoot with auto-exposure cameras. And, I don't always want to carry around a spotmeter or incidental meter.

Thanks, everyone for your input!

I'm looking for a solution for my wide angle needs. I have a K1000 and a KX and would like a 24 to whatever zoom. So, my questions:

1) What choices are available?
2) I now have a Vivitar 24 but there are no detents at the 1/2 stops and the aperture won't stay between stops without holding it. Very frustrating. Do other lenses have this problem?
3) Are these zoom choices constant aperture?
4) I also have two Nikon FAs. Should I consider Nikon lenses instead?
