Sorry you are right its 79.

This is the Super II APO , some say it's a little better than the DG version. It does macro down to 1:2 ( at 300mm ) and 1:3 ( at 200mm ). It is in mint condition.

I guess I will have to sell many lenses to fund the 85/1.4 A*

the 70mm is one of the best lenses ever made ! Very sharp . You can also check www.photozone.de there is a review there

Hello

I recently bought a DFA 50mm F/2.8 macro so I am selling one of my favourite lenses I have , the Pentax SMC M 50mm F/4 Macro . This lens is VERY sharp . It is in a very good condition , optics are clear , focussing is quite smooth and the apertures are snappy , no oil or fungus . I have used a protective filter on it most of the time .

I have no paypal account but I am sure we can find a way . I have 100% feedback on ebay ( ippokratis123 ) . I am asking 50 pounds and I can ship with Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery . Let me know if you have any questions.

try the 28mm reversed on bellows without the 135mm . The quality will be much better but all manual .

And btw when you "stack" two lenses together , leave the reversed lens at F4 ( if its a F2.8 ) , generally close one stop .

And don't stop down too much like F22 , diffraction ruins the image .

have fun

Quote:
I want my ultimate macro lens
hehe you are right ... When I originally made this thread ( before 8 months or so ) I just wanted up to 1:1 magnification . So I was looking for either a 100mm or a 50mm . I thought 1:1 would give greater magnification than my old PnS cam . So I bought a 50mm DFA because it was cheaper and I didnt care for working distance . But after some tests I wanted more than 1:1 magnification ... and bought some extension tubes and bellows . The 50mm DFA really shines at 2x-4x . I tried a 100mm sigma at 4x and it wasn't as good . Tests were done at f5.6 . The effective fstop at 4x magn. ( 200mm extension ) for the 50mm at marked f5.6 is f22. The 100mm needs 400mm (!) extension ( 100mm is already built into the lens ) to achieve 4x and the effective fstop is f44 , if my calculations are right . The aps-c sensor starts to be diffraction limited at f/11. So, one can see why longer focal lengths aren't good for high magnifications . Anyway... enough ramblin'

So, if anyone has a DFA 100mm or a A*/FA* 200mm macro and a 50mm DFA/FA , I would love to see some tests done in 1:1 .

Does anyone where can I find a RMS to K mount or m42 ? Or maybe a RMS to T mount ?

Thanx for your replies

The reason I don't find 200mm macro the ultimate for my needs is not just because I want more than 1:1 magn. but there are other reasons as well. I also did say that I want the ultimate 1:1 macro lens but I was speaking in terms of sharpness ( that is the thread title ) .

As I do most of my work on a table , I don't want the working distance to be so long

When I do photography in the field a 50mm macro lens gives me 4x faster shutter speed . Also the 200mm macro is big and heavy = not so portable

I still doubt that the 200mm macro is sharper than the 50mm DFA or FA . The reason I think this is true is because it is easier to manufacture a better 50mm than a 200mm . Maybe the 200mm macro is considered to be one of the best macro lenses , ever , because it is a very sharp lens at 200mm/sharper than the other 200mm macro lenses ( which , most of the time , are not sharper compared to their 50mm-100mm brothers ) . Considering that most 200mm macro lenses are NOT sharper than their 50mm-100mm brothers , then it this must be true for pentax as well . 60mm-105 mikro nikkor is sharper than the 200mm mikro-nikkor . Tamron 90mm is sharper than the 180mm . Canon 60mm-100mmm is sharper than the 180mm version . ( photozone.de ) .

An ultimate macro lens for one is not for another person . But we can test which one is the sharpest of all ( which one can resolve the maximum detail ) , even if this isn't the only factor that makes a great lens ... great .

So anyone who has two or more macro lenses ( lets say 50mm DFA , 100mm DFA or 200mm A*/FA* ) , we would like to see some dedicated tests done in 1:1 . We would really appreciate it !

SPB: can you do that ?

Thank you all ...
