Hi Longboarder I hope you don't take my posts the wrong way. I was trying to give a bit of more general advice to other people who decide to sell stuff on here or on ebay. Your original post looked genuine enough to me, but I wasn't interested in this lens and I was merely pointing out that had you posted photos you would have had your hand snatched off

Whoever put the 2nd bid on that lens must have had a bit of a shock it jumped from £300+ to £700 in one bid I've mentioned before on here that isn't the way to bid on ebay
Hi - no I am genuinely grateful to you and the other people who have taken the time to comment.

The trouble with forum posts and emails, is that it is impossible to gauge the intended tone of the creator.

I am sad to see this lens go. I bought the same one in Nikon fit though.

I have printed pictures (taken with a Samsung GX-10) at 30x20 inches of two lions side by side where you can pick out the individual hairs of their coats, and the pores in their noses.

Many thanks again to all the people who have posted replies

Kind regards

Hi,

Thank you all for your comments.

It is a good lesson for me - I will post photos in future.

On the other hand, the fact that I would be happy to meet face to face and allow a prospective buyer to try out the lens or flash first hand (and the fact that it is boxed with all papers etc) should indicate that it is an honest sale.

I fully understand the concerns expressed here. Especially in these hard times we have to be careful of scams. The number of emails I now receive from banks with whom I have no account bears this out.

Incidentally, the 100-300mm has hit reserve price on Ebay now - but I am still open to offers for the other two items.

As an aside, if you take into account the high Ebay selling fees, I will probably end up with the same net amount that I would have made with a direct £650 sale. These days Ebay is an expensive way to sell.

Kind regards

And why not offer your fellow forum members first dibs?
I did offer it to the forum first - but nobody wanted to buy because it was too cheap.

With that in mind I said at the time I would Evilbay it off instead.

I will also be listing a Pentax 16-50mm f/2.8 DA* (totally mint and boxed) and a Metz 58AF-1 (totally mint and boxed) if anybody is interested.

I am open to sensible offers for these before they go to Evilbay. I am happy to accept cash on collection for these as I have nothing to hide.

Kind regards

Hi,

Thanks again to all.

I will try to list it at the weekend on Ebay with photos.

I will probably list the Metz 58 AF-1 too.

Kind regards

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the replies.

I understand now why this seems too good a bargain. This time it really was a genuine offer though. The Nikon equivalent I picked up a month ago was £650 secondhand, immaculate and boxed. Hence the price.

I think to alleviate further worry, I may list it on Ebay. I have 351 positive feedback there (no negatives). If I list it on Ebay, I will give you guys a "heads up" if that is OK?

The price would have to be higher to compensate for their (extortionately) high fees.

You are right about the price of Nikon gear - it is damned expensive. If I could have got hold of the elusive 250-600mm I would have stuck with Pentax (I actually had a GX10).

Hi,

I hadn't realised that I was selling too cheap. How much are they normally?

Having switched to Nikon, I was just trying to cover the cost of the same lens in Nikon fit (secondhand of course).

As I stated, I am happy to meet face to face for a cash sale. It would give the buyer a chance to view the lens and try it out. I would be much happier with this arrangement than having to post it.

I have owned this lens from new. It is superb. That is the reason that I bought it again in Nikon fit.

Kind regards

I have the following for sale due to system change:

Sigma 100-300 f/4 lens in excellent condition, perfect optics. Slight handling marks on hood. Replacement lens caps. Boxed with all original items (instructions, guarantee, padded case, strap)

Looking for £650.

Metz 58 AF-1 flash. Virtually mint (I can see no marks at all). Boxed with all original items.

Looking for £250.

I would be more than happy to meet a prospective buyer face to face to confirm condition of these items - I am in the Norfolk area of the UK.
