What camera are you thinking of using it on? If it's a K10D you might run into exposure problems if the lens you're lookingat is the one on Canadian ebay, as it's a PK mount, rather than a PKA.

Google it and have a look, there are some interesting comments, such as the ones on here: http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00KRFh

May well be worth the asking price...

K100D.

Yes, that`s the one on Canadina Ebay. Is there any problem using this lens on K100D?
Thanks for the link.

Phil`s personal preference is his own business but , what ridiculous in his review is , as far as JPG softness, what an advantage with Nikon D200 is , in the same time is disadvantage with K10D , sounds weird to me.......
There is another issue, has anybody noticed that D40 got the same Feature rating as K100D, 8........

I just wonder how much Phil gets from Canon/Nikon ($$$) for such nice reviews .........

That would probably be a good idea waiting for that 16-50mm, but I am not sure about the price, IMO it will be much more expensive than 16-45........

Err, "45-70 range".........have I missed something here?

Ah, yes I see, the Sigma is a wider range but I very much doubt that it's a better performer but it's certainly good value.
I think you really have to handle a lens and preferably fire a few test shots before you can decide whether or not it is for you
Well, I am not saying there`s something wrong with 16-45 , I am in a similar situation which one to pick for myself. I am opting towards Pentax just because it`s about US$ 100 cheaper than Sigma here in Canada and I don`t need macro. Also, Sigma is known for quality inconsistency so I agree with you, the best way to make a choice is to try both of them.

The sigma goes for Euro. 325,00
The Pentax goes for Euro. 389,00
How come Pentax is more expensive? Is`t opposite here in N. America......

In this case, I would go for Sigma, you get 45-70 range + Macro mode for less money.....

I am about to get my first DSLR camera, Pentax K100D .

I`ve been doing some research on tele zoom lenses lately, almost decided to go for Sigma 70-300 , then I saw this
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=20458929

I was really surprised how sharp this Tamron is even on 300 mm!

I am a bit confused , which one to get? Both lenses are about the same price.

I heard that Sigma iwas quite good/sharp till 200mm, after that is a bit soft. It seems that Tamron is much beter in 200-300 range.

I am new in DSLR world , don`t know much about lenses as well, so any advice/opinion would be much appreciated!
