Well, yes, to be accurate. That said, I can buy used and never lose much over time, primes hold value very well, hence the price of the FA still. I'm not a fan of Canon at all.
Indeed. I purchased a Canon 300mm f2.8L IS some years ago and recently sold it for £100 less than I paid. They work very well with a 2x converter and the AF is still faster than Pentax without.
There was a very reasonably priced FA* 600mm listed on Ebay a few days ago (in the UK) but for the life of me I can't seem to find it now.

Quite willing to listed to offers for my FA* 250-600mm still

Kevriano, if you have the spare cash then go for it ... lifes to short to live the rest of it wondering "What if".
Agree Mike,It's a big investment, bit so is buying every new Pentax body in the hope of marginal gains in AF
I'm probably the last person you have to say that to Alan having gone through every top end body since the K10D Saying that I have had virtually no need for fast AF this year so my Canon stuff has just sat in the cupboard.
Hmm 250 600...

For wildlife it appears Canon is favourite with focus capability and lens choice, Pentax is not alone in concentrating more on other fields so if you have a particular area of interest it makes sense to go where that is served best. Kevriano, a camera or lens is not an “investment” unless it generates an income from which the outlay is recouped. Accept that spending money on an interest is just that and be prepared to write it off.

I really don't see the point of suggesting £1000 Sigma zooms,
Why? Because he asked who makes a 500/600 f4 for Pentax. Can't see where he says he's awash with £££.
I didn't say I was, but I would invest. I've looked around for an FA 600, but it's still stupid money, it's also screw drive, and it's silver. Not a nice looking thing, but sharp as anything ever made. Same with the 250-600. I don't need to say that I can afford it if I'm looking 😂
I did consider the 560, at £3000, but it's focus is too slow. I've never been a Nikon fan just don't like the ergonomics, but I bought the wife a D7500, and it's very nice and I can live with it. As said, for my favoured photography subject of wildlife, I'm better elsewhere. Sad but true.

I thinks it's been heading that way for some time, and the price isn't too bad as you get CC, Bridge etc. I actually hate Lightroom anyway 😂

majestic bird and great captures. Would love to see them in a larger size, do you have a Flickr account or similar ?
Thanks. No, sadly not. It's something I've been meaning to get to. Some are on the US Pentax Forum if you are a member there. They show up bigger on that page. I can link to an album on Facebook if it's allowed.

Who's got £8,000 to buy one (or even up to £11,000 depending on the make?)

But this one's close and affordable: https://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/sigma-50-500mm-f4-5-6-3-dg-os-hsm-lens-pentax-...
That's the thing. Pentax would charge more than equivalent Canikon, but I'd be willing to invest. That said, the K3 II still can't focus track like Nikon et al.
I've tried that Sigma, it's not as good as the 150-450 by a long chalk. I own that lens and it's great (see my Osprey shots), but I want 600mm...

There are two fast primes in the works, so maybe you could save yourself a bit of cash by waiting a little longer? There are also plenty of other makers providing fast lenses, although some are quite expensive.
Who makes a 500/600 f4 for Pentax? I've never found one, and the 560 f5.6 is slow to focus, and not really much faster than the 150-450. Do you know what's coming?

A few shots of a juvenile Male Osprey that has taken up residence at a fairly local pond. No one is sure if he will stay, he should just be passing through, but he's been here 3 weeks now, These are around 50% crop, and shot either in single centre point AFC or Multi 9 point focus. Handheld, DA 150-450.Comment Image

I'm giving up waiting, and will be selling a body and my 150-450 to go Nikon and either 200-500 or 150-600. Pentax will never make a fast prime again, and so the Nikon will be a starter to my retirement lens.

Lovely pictures. With the 150-450 ?
Yes, pretty much my go to lens for everything wildlife. Handheld, ISO 400, f7.1 - 10. No cropping on these as they were nice and close.
