This will be much better Phil if you correct the levels. I pulled it into PS and it comes up very well with levels corrected, auto lightening in curves and a slight sharpen.
Still not sure whether the tree works or not though.

A good effort to get as much as possible in focus here. Overall, the image works with enough detail in the centre area that doesn't dissolve out to quickly into any blur.

Well focused and presented. The DOF works very well here to isolate the subject and excellent detail on the mouse where it matters.
